Screen Capture

Post by geeaygee »

I am using PSP X3 running on Windows 7. What has happened to the Screen Capture function? In this version I can't get past Import > Screen Capture. In X2 at least I could capture the whole window if not an individual window but with this version I can't even do that. :(

I thought later versions were supposed to give additional functionality not give in some areas & take away others.

It's a function I use quite a bit & am very disappointed that it seems to have disappeared.

Thanks for any help

To capture a PSP window You need two Instances of Psp to be running . Neither X2 or X3 can run two instances. So its the Print screen button or the Snipping tool . The later is superb and can be found in Vista and Win 7 under Programmes accessories But its better if you give it a shortcut key like shift + ctrl+s or if you have a mouse or keyboard with assignable buttons use one of them

I, too, am experiencing this problem with PSP Pro X3. This does appear to be a bug, a regression from previous PSP X2 and earlier versions. Screen Capture, esp window client area, is a feature I've used frequently for years, and now appears broken.

The "Setup" and "Start" items are greyed out in File-Import-Screen Capture sub-menu, UNTIL I manually open up a new image canvas (never had to do this in previous versions, as the screen capture results would automatically open as a new image child window). Then, I am able to access those items. However, the "Capture Now" button in "Setup" and "Start" item minimizes PSP (as it should), but activating the capture (F10 or right-click) does absolutely nothing, and so does not result in any screen capture taking place.

Trev's posting here does not seem to understand the problem. We are not trying to capture another PSP screen, instead another application or browser window client area (as in past versions). Other Windows utilities for this are combersome, requiring mucho extra time and a surgeon's hand to capture only the client or window areas.

Anyone know of a Corel patch/update or resolution for this?

It seems to depend on what you are trying to capture. I have captured images from an (other) application, from Windows Mail, and from my desktop, but could NOT capture anything from my browser. Running X3 with SP2.

Screen capture with PSPPX3 seems to be one problem that I'm NOT having. It is set up to start with SHIFT+C. I am using "Capture Area" using "Right Mouse Click". I do not have to have an image (new or otherwise) open to start the screen capture. And I can capture from a browser also. Guess I Just got lucky on this one.

You have to open a file before editing options are available. Too bad Corel's programmers applied the same logic to screen capture and scanning.

It's brain dead that I have to open a file before I can scan or capture a screen shot!

What options are you using in the screen capture setup? I am in full editor mode, but I do not have to have a file (or image) open to do a screen capture.

Neither applies to me. I Scan and it opens as a new image and screen shots paste as new images

My PSP X3 Ultimate defaults to open in Organizer mode. I got an answer from Customer Support today that the missing menu options are enabled if I click the "Full Editor" button. Hopefully there's a way to tell PSP that it should open in Full Editor mode when I start the program.
