Ultimate Photo-Editing solution?

Post by LeviFiction »

So got this email, and I'm sure most of you have by now as well, spouting about the next ultimate photo-editing solution from Corel. And it's due on September 8th. We're to watch our emails for an exclusive offer.

So, what do you guys think this ultimate solution will be? I know it's only six days away before we find out but I'm curious.

Well it says "email exclusive offer" and has the standard person holding a camera that you have come to expect from each new Paint Shop Pro release. With the exception of version X3 of course. :P

Do you think it'll be PSPP X3 Ultimate? Essentially a 13.5 version? Would Corel really charge us for the necessary updates again? I'd really hate to think this is the third patch we've all been waiting for in new product form. Or do you think they've jumped up the production of X4? Dun dun dun. I find the latter highly unlikely.

I'm very curious about this, looking forward to some potentially good news. Though I probably won't get any. XD

What an odd thing to wish for.

About a week ago I got an email from Corel asking to take a survey. I did. They asked if I would recommend X3 to others, I said mostly. they asked why, be specific. I had to take a break to make dinner, then another break to get the kids in bed later. I tried to be as specific as I could, I hope the person reading it didn't just gloss over at some point. I can ramble sometimes. Hopefully they are listening to what needs done though.

I caught the E-mail also and expect that it is simply X3 "Ultimate" with a few new goodies to entice users to spend another $29.95 (my guess at the price),but no real improvement in the core program.
I find it odd that I just last night posted that I'd about had it with Corel and was about to purchase a Wacom tablet and that Wacom is offering an upgrade path to PS CS5 for half price.
I have repeatedly resisted the temptation to go for PS but I am in the final stage of putting together a new dedicated digital photo editing and art printing service at my Framing Shop, and feel I need to bite the bullitt and say bye bye to Corel and it's half baked Raw editing solution.

I remember that deal. How I wanted to get it. They use to offer it with the Bamboo and I would have gone for it but needed to replace my computer instead. So I missed my chance and now I have to buy an intuos tablet to get that offer. Not that it wouldn't be worth it, I just can't afford it. :(

If the trial turns out alright I might foolishly buy the new version of Corel. It's still cheaper and at $100 for a bamboo tablet I can do my amateur hour on a small price tag.

The last time i looked wacom was Shipping Elements with the Bamboo. And you get to upgrade element's to CS at a discount.
I got PS 7 licence when doing some Work for a Training collage and updated to CS 3 when it became the last version to update 7 from . It cost more then all my PSP put together, :¬) and I still don't use it much

Not much of a discount. But to get the program free and get some money knocked off is nothing to sneeze at. No, when the Bamboo first came out their rewards program almost included all tablets along the same line. They later changed this for obvious reasons. But yes they do ship with Elements and upgrading from Elements I can get Photoshop for 599 instead of 699.

The coupon incentive/privileges of bamboo now includes lots of stuff that I can't use. *shrug* But at one time I was able to find a coupon for Photoshop at Half off with Bamboo. Now I can only find it with Intuos.

Sorry, I don't mean to go OT here.
Adobe is currently running a half price upgrade path from Elements 8 to CS5 until Sept 16. If you are a registered user of Elements (you should have received an email.
I would have purchased Elements for 79.95 , PS for $300, and the Intuos Medium $309 at Amazon and B&H. By getting Elements free with the tablet that I was going to buy anyway, I save $80 and get CS5 for $300 instead of $699. Too good a deal to pass up!
I just got the Epson Stylus Pro 7900 (24") printer which lists for $3995 for $2349 after a $1000 rebate from Epson with free shipping from the vendor. .. Also too good a deal to pass on!

I decided you only live once

I too have started to use Photoshop Elements. I found that it works with RAW files better than X3. I've used corel products since the Draw 3 days and I keep seeing them aim high, but miss the mark each time. Let's hope that they incorporate the feedback that the community gives them so we can get some quality software that has been throught the QA process.

I am in the process of finalizing the setting up of a complete digital darkroom which will enable me to do ART printing at my custom framing business.
The last piece of gear is a Wacom Intuos 4 (medium size) tablet.
Low and behold Wacom also has an upgrade path to CS5 for $299 for their bundeled Elements 8.
I may just have to jump on that since the tablet is much more functional with PS than PSP.

It's also more powerful with its editing capabilities. Once you get use to it that is. The tutorials are also better. :D No point in not going for it if you have the ability and it'll suit your business better.

So you think it's going to be some sort of crazy Ultimate Edition also huh? :P Haha

Well, as nice as getting Painter Essentials instead of Photo-Painter Essentials might be, and more of the KPT Filters I don't see anything worth while in this.

The email deal had better be a whalop is all I have to say about that. Because it's ridiculous if they want us to buy a brand new edition just to get what little fixes they've made since the initial second patch.

I don't think the Painter Essentials is a different version. If this version is a true Multi-core program I may buy one copy for my wife's computer.

Oh I have no doubt that it's not different, but I would like to believe it is. :D I mean the name is different at least. But only by one word.

But the functionality is so different I really hope that they are giving Painter Essentials and not Photo-Painter Essentials. With Photo-painter you can only do photo painting. With Painter Essentials you can do actual image creation without a photo-base. They had better not being purposely leaving out the beginning "photo" from that name list.

But it claims to be New.

Oh well, we'll find out tomorrow.
