Error importing from tv-tuner/capture device

Post by torxnl »

Hello,

A while ago I bought a usb 2861 device to capture analog videos. With it came Corel Digital Studio 2010. I hadn''t used it for a while but this day I wanted to capture a video again but it didn't work. When I click the record button my screen turns black. But when I connect my camera to my computer I can see what my camera is filming but it doesn't record to my computer. I allready reinstalled the program and drivers but nothing seems to work.
Thanks for you help :)

Did your device come with any other software? What is the make of your capture device? What is the source of your analog videos? Are you trying to capture from your television, or VCR? I know since Intervideo acquired Ulead, they changed the capture plug-in to their own proprietary capture plug-in, called IVI. Since then it has been nearly impossible to capture analog video. This was brought to their attention when it was first discovered with VideoStudio 11. Corel did provide a patch that was very short lived, and did not completely fix the problem. Since then it has been ignored.

The only software that came with the device was Corel Video Studio Express 2010 and the drivers. There is no manufacturer mentioned on the box or the device :S and I am trying to capture videos directly from my video camera through an RCA composite. The weird thing is I can see that it connects and everything because I can see my videos in the viewport. But as soon as I try recording the viewport turns black and nothing happens. I really hope I can get it working again.
Thanks for your reply

I notice that you have overclocked your video card, perhaps that has had an effect.

My videocard was overclocked by the manufacturer, it was a XXX version which was faster than the normal one. The Import function worked when I just bought the device but now 2 months later it doesn't :(

Could be corruption by other programmes you've installed since, or other programmes interfering.
Can you use system restore to go back to the time when you installed this ?

I restored as far back as I could (which was about 1 month after I bought the product) but it didn't help. I will try doing a full reinstall including the removal of everything that has to do with it in the register. Hope that will help :)

I updated my nvidia drivers and directx but nothing seemed to have helped :( I'm getting pretty desperate...
Maybe some screenshots will help:
This is what I see when my camera is connected, everything is fine:

This is what I see when I click the record button, everything turns black:

hope this will help
