I just REinstalled VideoStudio Pro X3 and DVDMovieFactory 7SE with all the updates.
ISSUES: In VSX3, when I “Create Disk” and chose MoveFactory, it takes me to MovieFactory to a New Project, no video inported from VS.
What’s happening?

Re: MF7SE Opens With New Project - No Video From VSX3
That's the correct behavior of the programs. DVD MF is a separate program. In previous versions of VS, the Share>Create Disc opened another part of VS that we called the Burn Module. Since it was still a part of VS, the project was automatically carried from the editor to the burn module. With VS X3 you must first create a video file. Then open DVD MF7SE, and insert that video file. DVD MF7 was released before VS X3, so it will not accept a VSP file from VS X3. You could save your project as a VS X2 VSP, Provided you did not use any effects such as the New Blue PiP, that is not included in VS X2, and then insert that into DVD MF7SE. However this still must be done manually..

Re: MF7SE Opens With New Project - No Video From VSX3
Ron,
When I first installed VSX3, I would have sworn after editing the video, I could go to Create Disc and It will take me (the edited video) into MF7SE for ISO creation.
If as you said, I might as well finish with VS, close it and open MF7SE seperate[googlevideo][/googlevideo]ly. Why from VSX3 if am not going to use it again? Oh, how much I sure miss the ol' do-it-all with VS11+. I thing 'life' was much easier!
With all of my videos, guess I don't really need VSX3 since MF7SE has the "Multi-Trim", "Menu" and "ISO" functions. If I had known ISO fucntion was removed from VSX3, I would have just purchased MF7 only.
With VS11+, about 95% of my videos synched, but with VSX3, more than half of my videos don't synch (Smart Proxy is NOT enabled). I may have to read up on creating Video Folders instead of ISO files.
Thanks for your time!

Re: MF7SE Opens With New Project - No Video From VSX3
I think part of your confusion is that VS X3 does not have a burn module, whereas all earlier versions did. Corel removed the burn module, replacing it with a completely separate program DVD Factory 2010 (worthless). After all the complaints about it, they then offered for free, DVD MovieFactory 7SE as a replacement. It still is a stand-alone program, however like DVD Factory 2010, can be launched from within VS. If you notice when you click on either DVD Factory 2010 or DVD MovieFactory 7SE, in the menu option of VS, VS closes, then whichever one you selected opens. Since VS closes, the project file is not automatically inserted into the timeline of the DVD authoring program. It is no different than if you used say, Nero to author and burn your DVDs. You must first create a video file to be inserted into Nero.
I guess I'm one that has always followed the workflow to create a video file first from my editing project, and not use the project file to author my DVDs. So this is nothing new or surprising to me. There's really no savings in render times, as the burn module in VS 11 must first render all clips to DVD compliant MPEG-2, before you can create an ISO or DVD Folders. With using a VSP, those MPEG-2 files are temporary, and are deleted once the DVD is burned, ISO or Video Folders created. This applies to SD (standard def) DVDs, the AVCHD files are a whole different ballgame..

Re: MF7SE Opens With New Project - No Video From VSX3
Mmm, okay! Interesting. I will just keep on with DVDMF7SE only.
Personally, what do you create, ISO or DVD Folders and why do you chose so?
Now with the reinstallations, when I try to create DVD Folder or ISO file, I get an "Unspecified Error" message. Now am screwed - I can't create a disc anymore. All I did this moring was completely remove and reinstall VSX3 and DVDMF7SE.

Hi caxtin
Just the same as Ron I too create a video file first, always have done.
If your having problems burning a DVD then we need to start at the beginning.
So what file are you trying to burn and what are their properties?
Open Video Studio
Settings-Preferences – Tick - Show messages when inserting First…………
Add your video file to the timeline.
An info window will show, choose details, view the properties in the right panel.
Using your mouse highlight and copy and paste to the forum.
These are the video properties they should be standard DVD Mpeg2.
Iso or TS folder
If I needed multiple copies………..
I have always created an iso, but only that earlier versions allowed me to burn the iso using Ulead software. (vcd dvd disc image recorder)
Creating TS folders I had to use another third party software to burn the files. (nero)
The contents are the same, TS folders can be played on the pc whereas Iso’s are effectively zipped TS-Folders.
There is no right or wrong option just one that suits you
But if your process fails to create the folders then we can rule out your DVD burner hardware.

Re: MF7SE Opens With New Project - No Video From VSX3
Hello Trevor,
A few times I have been told to first create video files. Please tell me. Isn’t creating a video file an extra step? You then use this created file to burn directly to the disk, create DVD Folders or create an ISO? If so, then, why not go straight to creating the DVD Folder or an ISO. Now, one thing in my case is most of my videos are usually longer than a DVD would accept, so I first create an ISO (Fit-TO-Disk). If I were to first create a Folder or ISO, I still would have to create a Folder or an ISO. This are my processes:
1. Import original video file
2. Trim video to remove unwanted scenes
3. Add menus and/or chapters
4. Do a short Preview
5. Create ISO file (Usually, Fit-To-Disk)
6. Play the ISO file in a player to verify video/audio synchronization
7. If synchronization is fine
8. Burn ISO file to a DVD
For some reason, the “Unspecified Error” is gone. I closed DVDMF7SE and reopened it three times, no error. This was why I started this post in the first place. I can now “Burn” to ISO again.
Another item is, does creating an ISO file always create DMF_TEMP, SmartProxy and DISCLAYOUT_TEMP folders? I have Enable Smart Proxy option unchecked.
The file information you requested (though my error is no more), is attached. The main issue I have not is bad Audio/Video synching. I’ll read up on that. By the way, I used a converter to check the properties since either VSX3 or DVDMF7SE takes about 15-20 minutes to import my captuered videos. I could not wait.
Thanks every one for your time.
PS:
Bye the way, I just did a search for "sync" at the DVDMF7SE forum, and could not find any post on audio/video synchronization issue (no result found). What should I read since I now only use DVDMF7SE? I may have to start a new thread for help.

Re: MF7SE Opens With New Project - No Video From VSX3
Hi
Creating Video File is not an extra step, a mpeg 2 file has to be used to burn a standard DVD.
Maybe a little explanation into the workflow may help.
There does seem to be some confusion between X3 and Movie Factory 7
With earlier versions of Video Studio we were able to export our project to the burner module and create the menu, we are now trying to burn the Project to DVD.
When we burn a standard DVD we have to use a Mpeg2 file.
Hitting the burn button will start with Convert Title, this is rendering the project to Mpeg2 saving the file to a temp folder, which is then used to burn the DVD.
……………………………………………………..
Using X3 we add our original video to the timeline, again we are working on a project, this is saved as a VSP (Video Studio Project )
The project is edited adding/removing frames, audio, titles etc.
Using X3 we cannot export the project to the burner module we have to Share Create Video File this converts the project into a single file.
Depending on what the video is being used for depends on what we make.
For YouTube for instance we could make a Flash file.
But we are creating a DVD, and we need to make a compatible Mpeg2 file.
Share Create Video File-DVD will create such a file.
To burn the file we use Make Movie Manager 7
Adding the new completed video file DVD_Mpeg2 in the second window. (Add Video)
No further editing, just create a menu.
Choose to Create a Disc, Image or DVD Folder or Create Disc
When you finally hit the burn button the process should start with Convert Menu.
There is no Convert Title stage as we are already using a mpeg2 video file
Job done.
However Movie Factory has some editing features, if used will cause the burning process to create a new video file Mpeg2 saved to Corel DVD MovieFactory\7.0\DMF_Temp
So if you see Convert Title then the project is being converted to Mpeg 2.
As you have now given us some details of your original video as 1920 x 1080 High Definition.
If you are using these in MF7 and burning a standard DVD then the process will Convert Title in order to create the Mpeg 2 file.
