Converting Video Message

Post by CJStyle »

15. If you see a message that says "Converting Videos, This will take a long time..." hit the Cancel button and check for the following problems (1) Burn properties do not match Video File properties, (2) Timeline display is not empty, or (3) You have used the Add Project control.

After reading the ABOVE post, I am still getting the messages to CONVERT video. Any other ideas on how to add straight video MPEG onto DVD with it wanting to convert?

In the Project Settings for the Burn Module (pre-VS X3) or for your DVD authoring program (DVD MF), do you have the box checked beside Do Not Convert Compliant MPEG files? If the MPEG files are DVD Compliant then they should not be converted. However if there is some setting that does not meet the DVD specs, then it will be converted, as it must meet the specifications.

The only CHECK I have selected is the "Do Not Convert Compliant MPEG files"

Still having the issue.

Do you know if I can burn the MPEG directly onto a DVD using Roxio so that it will auto start in a traditional (non-computer) player?

MY ISSUE: After rendering...my video looks blurry....compared to the video I captured.

Any ideas?

Hi

What version of Video Studio are you using.
In order to burn a DVD you must have a compatible Mpeg2 file. This is created by Video Studio.

1 / If you Share Create Disc with content in the project timelines you are literally adding the project to the burner module. This is not a video file but a Video Studio Project.
When you hit the burn button the project will be converted to Mpeg2 indicated by Convert Title on the progress bar. The process will then continue with Convert Menu etc………..

2 / If you Share Create Video File-DVD, this will render the project to a compatible MPEG2 file.

3 / If you Share Create Disc then ADD video using a compatible MPG2 file.
When you finally hit the burn button the process will start with Convert Menu.
The Convert Title is not required as you are working with a compatible video file.

You don’t give any details of your Mpeg2 file.?
Have you created an MPEG2 file using Share Create Video File?
Right click the video file and select properties, what are they?

Give us some details of your captured video files?
where did they come from?
how did you capture the video, what connections did you use?
what type are they?
right click a video clip and select properties, what are they?
did you create a video file?
where are you, do you use Pal or Ntsc?

There is an announcement at the top of this forum, gives details of what we need, information.........

Files are MPEG from hard drive camera - clips are crystal clear.
Current settings on output:
Lower Field
NTSF (America)
100%
8000 bit rate

PROBLEM: Video is BLURRY after burning onto DVD (video looks great in the preview window)

Please advise

Not much to go on, more info needed.
So you have Mpeg video from a Hard drive camera, knowing something about the source video would help.
right click a video clip and select properties, what are they?
then knowing what process you used to burn the DVD would also help.
Did you Share Create Video File?????? if yes what settings/template did you use.
What settings were used to burn the DVD, they should be the same as the original video file.
Chances are they will show as upperfield????????

What version of video studio are you using.???

When I right-mouse click:

Movie Clip (.MPG) - which I can watch immediately in any player on my PC (my video cam created MPG clips automatically on a hard drive)

I am using 3 computers: Windows XP Professional, Vista & Windows 7 (yes, I have tried on all 3)

I am using Ulead Video Studio Plus 11.5

What I typically do:
Open Clips in Ulead from the Video menu and drop onto the timeline

Current Preferences:
Default field order:
Resampling quality: Best
Image resampling option: Keep aspect ratio
Checked: Apply anti-flickering filter in image clips
On Capture tab: Image quality: 100
TEMPLATE:
MPEG files, 24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
DVD-NTSC 16:9
Video data rate: 7000
Audio data rate: 224 kbps

AFTER placing clips on timeline and when I am ready to BURN on DVD, this is my workflow:
SHARE tab, Create Disc, DVD
On Project Settings
MPEG files
24 big, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
DVD-NTSC 16:9
Video data rate: 8000
Audio data rate 256
Dolby Digital Audio
Display aspect ratio: 19:9
Field type: Lower field first (DV)
Checked: Do not convert compliant MPEG files

*** I have tried to burn directly to DVD and ALSO as a video file which I can view on my hard drive (which is clear) BUT in the "Add Media" window, even with my timeline empty, it still wants me to render.

ANY FEEDBACK?

If your video files came from a Hard drive camcorder, and are MPEG_2, then they most likely use UFF (upper field first). So you need to change the field order in your project/templates that you're using for this project from Lower Field First to Upper Field First. This is very important that the field order be maintained throughout.

Yes, I tried it as UPPER FIELD twice already. I've gone through a dozen or more DVDs.
AND yes, my cam captures Already in Mpeg-2

Hi

There may be some confusion in Right Click

Open Video Studio
Add one video to the timeline
Right Click the clip in the timeline and select properties.
These are your Video Clips properties, the Mpeg 2 properties.
What are they?

Your Project Properties need changing to match these settings.

Video Studio can do this automatically, provided the video is compatible.
This only works on a new project and for the first video added.
So you would have to manually edit the project properties for any existing projects.

Try This……….
Open Video Studio
File – Preferences—Tick Show Messages when inserting first video clip……..

Add / insert a video to the timeline.
You should get an info window requesting that you ‘match the project settings’
Choose Details and view the two panels
The right panel shows your video properties.
You could copy and paste the details if you wished

Choose OK/Yes and your project properties will match the video file.

Is there any problems with that process?

To burn a Mpeg 2 file
Read my guide to Share (burn to Disc) from the Quick Guide link below.
