VideoStudio Pro X3 - bad mpg output

Post by careysb »

I just downloaded and installed this software. I drag-n-dropped an MOV file taken with my Canon 5DmkII camera. The recording mode was HD. VideoStudio played the file ok. I did not add any other clips, transitions, etc.. Then I output to 720x480 mpg format. The resulting file only mostly played on Windows Media Play. It would play once, but if you had looping enabled it would barf on subsequent plays. I also tried to play the file on JMStudio, not a mainstream player but it has no difficulty with any of my other mpg files. Can someone suggest a way to generate a more compatible mpg file? (system: Vista32, 4GB RAM, Intel quad-core)

Would be handy to know what sort of Mpeg you exported like...perhaps some of the other properties. You mention the frame size and that's about it. Was there a particular reason you picked that frame size? What were you trying to make?

More information please. :)

My original was 1920x1080 and I wanted to maintain the 16:9 aspect ratio but have it smaller and also have it in MPG format. VideoStudio only (as far as I could tell) had an output format that was 720x480 in MPG format. Share > Create Video File > DVD > NTSC DVD 16:9 > Properties: (these were the defaults)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo
