Blimp in VS X2 transitions fixed yet?

Post by ecbritz »

I bought VS X2 in January, shortly before the release of VS X3. I was told on this forum that the program caused a blimp in the transitions. This discouraged me from going to the considerable trouble of learning the program, and I simply discarded it, despite the purchase made. The blimps were apparently cured in VS X3, for which something like $69 had to be paid shortly after paying for VS X2. However, there was something wrong with the initial release of X3 as well, according to members of this forum. I felt that if a blimp fix was available in X3, it should have been made available to users of X2 as well. All of this added to the feeling that I should simply count my losses. I still have the unused VS X2 program on my computer though. Has a fix for the blimps been made available to users of X2 since? If so, where should I download it, and how should I install the bug fixes for X2? Is this program now working perfectly?

Hi

I seem to have fixed this issue. There are two versions of the H264 decoder, one must be used for previewing in VideoStudio, the other used for decoding prior to encoding. The one used for decoding prior to re-encoding is an older version!

This is what I did:

1) In Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG took a copy of H264VDec.dll as a backup, this is the older version of the library (version 2.0.1.4)

2) Take a copy of the newer file from Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\Filters\H264VDec.dll (this is version 2.0.1.7) and copy it into the folder in 1) replacing the older version there.

This resolved the drop-out issues.

Not sure if this also helps with blips around transitions, not tested yet.

Regards

Phil
