Timeline view

I cannot turn on the timeline view feature while editing. After the video has been captured, all I see is a solid green block where the frames should appear. I would like to see the film frame by frame so I know exactly where to add the FX or transitions. Can this be accomplished in VideoStudio Pro X3 ? Thank you for your assistance.

It certainly can. Please tell us more about the clips you are using. Right click on one and post the properties here. Where did they come from and how did you capture them?

I don't have VS installed on this computer (I have just moved to a new country and am awaiting my editing computers). But in Preferences > General, look for something to do with View, and choose Thumbnails...

I don't have X3 but in X2 (X3 should be similar)

either press F6 OR click File>> preferences - then in the dialogue window under the 'General' tab look about 1/3 down for 'clip display mode' - set that option to 'Thumbnail only' - click OK - should solve the problem - if not report back

Thank you for your kind assistance, that worked out fine and I can now see the timeline frame by frame. I'm on my way to learning VideoStudio Pro X3 but I find it difficult with whatever little instructions came with the package or available on the Corel help site.
Any suggestinos for a good detailed instruction package?

We have a Tutorials Section, and one Forum in that section is the Video Product Tutorials. Most of those are older tutorials, however there should be some of the newer tutorials for VS X3, which were produced by Corel and are hosted on YouTube and Vimeo. I know it's difficult to look up some things (especially when there's no documentation), when we don't know the proper names for them. Couple that with Corel changing things around, and it can seem to be a little daunting. However grit your teeth, and soon you'll find that it gets easier with a little time.

The screenshot I posted showing the location of the pause/trim handles are directly from Corel's on-line Help for VS X3. However I knew what I was looking for, and what they are referred to in the Help file, so was easier for me to find it, than new users of the program. There are some things that the Manuals/User Guides or Help Files can assist with, and I admit that they are severely lacking in information, but it can provide a starting point..;)
