Vista and Photo Pro X3
I am new to the forum.
I just purchased Corel Photo Pro X3 and am running Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I have been trying to access the color working space area but every time I click on it, the program crashes. I have installed both updates and patches. Does anyone know what the problem may be? Thanks in advance

Re: Vista and Photo Pro X3
Dave,
Did all work ok before the Updates?
What version number do you have now?
Do you mean clicking on the Materials Palette?
I "transparent" selected in the Materials Palette, for foreground or background?
After starting PSP.
What steps (loading or selecting/clicking on) before the problem?
What exactly is clicked on when the problem happens?

Re: Vista and Photo Pro X3
Marty, in the File menu under Color Management you'll find an option for "Color Working Space." Here you can set-up whether or not the application is working with the traditional sRGB color space or some other colorspace such as AdobeRGB. As well as which CMYK profile is used for the different color operations.

Levi,
Yes, I missed that, while thinking about recent problems with X3 crashes.

Re: Vista and Photo Pro X3
i chatted with corel customer service and went thru the whole getting rid of x3 from my computer and reinstalling, but it still happened for some reason after that. It's beyond me and I am hoping to figure something out over the weekend. Thanks for any help in advance, and let me know of any solutions.

Re: Vista and Photo Pro X3
Hard to give you a solution without much information. Answer Marty's questions the questions are still good questions.
Now they had you uninstall and re-install. Did they have you Shift+Click on the PSP icon to start it with default everything? Did they have you delete the Corel program files and registry settings?
What exactly is the error that PSP closes with?
Is it just selecting the option "Color Working Space"? Or is it apply the changes?
Give us more to go off of. I have Windows 7 and the command works fine for me so I can't test any possible solutions. But that assumes it's a Windows Vista problem.
Did the tech support person attempt to re-create the problem on their own Vista OS? If not ask them to do so, see if it isn't an OS specific problem or something else we could try. There are lots of possibilities but very little information to base even an educated guess on.

Re: Vista and Photo Pro X3
I went to the administrator tools and it is the corecolormgr.dll, that is causing the problem. I can ask them to recreate the problem, but I was actually chatting with this person.

Re: Vista and Photo Pro X3
To answer the one question, the error it closes with is Corel paintshop pro x3 has stopped working windows is looking for a solution and of course there is none. Otherwise the program works fine but I would like to be able to assign my own color profile to my photos.
I also have noise ninja, and I can't get that to work as they say it's compatible with paintshop pro, and I have done everything both companies say to do. Sometimes I think downloading files thru google chrome automatically qualifies them to be corrupted.

Re: Vista and Photo Pro X3
They had me erase everything including the registry settings.
I can't get into the color work space at all, the message I typed earlier is what appears.
I haven't tried the shift and alt method yet which I can try and report back what happens.

Re: Vista and Photo Pro X3
I tried to the alt and click, but fell short. The same still happened. I can just tell you I uninstalled completely and reinstalled, but the same happened, I just clicked on color management, and color working space, and automatic windows error box, same I mentioned in the earlier post. I will try and get them to recreate the scenario on their vista machines. What is the recent version of paint shop pro x3. I just want to make sure I don't have to install the patches, because the version number is not changing, my version ends with .35. Thanks a lot for your help. Please let me know of any more solutions or thoughts.

Re: Vista and Photo Pro X3
I was hoping someone might have an answer for me. I am still waiting for corel support to get a hold of me so hopefully tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone might have an idea what may be causing the issue. I appreciate any help.
Re: Vista and Photo Pro X3
I encounter exactly the same problem with X2 Ultimate running und Windows 7 64bit. I wonder wether you have found a solution to this in the meantime. Without beeing able to use the installed ICC-profiles, Paint Shop Pro is useless and can be replaced by a freeware like paint.net or GIMP.
