Help with paint shop pro after computer died

Post by btccfan »

Hi, thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.
I have several Corel products all registered with them. After my laptop suddenly died I have been through the almost suicidal task of putting everything on a new one. Although Paintshop X3 is much better I still use X1 whenever I'm not working with RAW as it's much quicker for me. Unfortunately I can't find the box (it is quite old) but as I said all my products are registered with Corel. After finding that Corel don't offer the download of any version of X1 on their website I found a free trial on one of those cnet type places. When I tried to enter my serial number I got a message saying 'Our records show that *******.com has never purchased a copy of paintshop pro X1' , so I can't activate it. On one page I was reading my serial number from my account page on Corel on the other page they were telling me I'd never bought it! I tried customer support but there's nothing in the documentation and they won't email me about a version of Paint shop that old! I thought I'd see if anyone had any ideas before I, apparently, pay through the nose for a phone call. So any ideas how I can activate a copy without finding the disc?

When purchasing any of the Corel programs they warn that you will not be able to reactivate them after a certain amount of time elapses.
They do offer 'download insurance' to extend the initial time they retain the activation codes but you would still be way past that deadline.
Sorry, it would appear your out of luck on that one :(

You pay through the nose for the phone-call? Is that for the call itself on your ? Because tech support is free. How-tos are what cost you 10 dollars each.

I, however, have not had this problem. My version of XI can still install properly.

Of course I also have the disk. And it only asks for the serial number and I can fore-go registering if I want to. I would say it's a result of the download version. My suggestion, find the disk. Search high and low. Or suck it up and use version X3.

Thanks ever so for the answers guys! Thats good that tech support is free, obviously I heard wrong!
Fantstically I have found the disc, and it was more or less right in front of me the whole time that I was ripping the house to bits. I'm sure we've got a friendly ghost playing tricks on us, a spatula went missing the other day and after searching high and low it was on the draining board where we both looked a squillion times!
Case closed!
