VideoStudio X3 Always Crashes When Rendering

Post by murray »

Hi Everyone,

Below is the discussion thread I've been having with the Corel tech support. They've been unable to fix my problem.

Does anyone else have any suggestions? Or have I completly wasted my cash?

Thanks in advance,
Murray

Allan,

I have followed your latest instructions and VideStudio Pro still crashes when I try to render my project.

Do you have any other ideas?

Murray

Dear Murray,

Thank you for your e-mail. I've seen your Media Info file and I can say that your camera is supported by VideoStudio.

Meanwhile, I've also seen your System Information file and the same error are logged in the Windows Error Reporting.

I would like you to temporarily remove once again the following software that may be causing this issue:

Roxio Creator Premier
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

To uninstall Apple Software, please refer in this article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925?viewlocale=en_US

Restart your computer.

Once you have fully removed the software, please download and install the following:

1.) QuickTime Player: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
2.) Xvid-1.2.2: http://www.koepi.info/Xvid-1.2.2-07062009.exe
3.) ffdshow tryouts: http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/

Once you have installed these applications on your computer, please launch VideoStudio Pro X3 and edit your video clip.

Please note: Since these are third-party applications, Corel does not guarantee the stability of these applications with VideoStudio Pro X3. This is only a suggestion if your video clip has an open source codec.

Allan

Hi Allan,

Thanks for your response - and in reply you may have not noticed that in my last update to you I did attach a new system summary since the reformat. I will attach it again for your convieniance. I have also attached a txt file from the media info software that gives details of the video file I'm using.

To answer your question if I've used any other video format to render - the answer is no, as Im using video from may brand new camcorder. This is a JVC Everio - Full HD video, model number GZ-HM400AA.

Thanks
Murray

Dear Murray,

Thank you for your e-mail. Could you provide an updated System Information (*NFO) file of your newly formatted computer, please?

Another issue here is that the video clip that you are trying to convert with VideoStudio might be corrupted. Have you tried converting other video formats using VideoStudio?

Could you provide more information about the video clip that you are editing with VideoStudio, please? Please provide the detailed information by using this simple tool ''MediaInfo''; it's a freeware tool that supplies technical and tag information about a video or audio file.

You may download it from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mediainfo/

Please provide the MediaInfo text file and System Information Text file.

Allan

Dear Allan,

Thanks for the update and the advice on the next step to get things fixed. I have done as you suggested and reformated the computer, and re-installed all the required software as suggested by you earlier in the thread.

The program is still crashing when I try to render any of the types of files available.

Please help me!

I've attached another system info summary for you to digest.

Thx
Murray

Dear Murray,

Thank you for your e-mail. Please be informed that we cannot open DMP file due to limited resources. However, we have already analyzed your System Information File and most common VideoStudio error log entries, if not all, are associated with the .dll file extension. To further explain, the .dll extension also known as the Dynamic-link library.

DLL’s are codes that come along with your Windows Operating System and installed applications. In your case, Windows 7, upon installation of operating system and applications in your PC, these DLL files are also being installed or updated with its latest DLL version. Any software or program installed or created thereafter, will now utilize the DLL files in your computer in order to function / run smoothly. According to the list of error logs, there has been a consistent amount of errors not only with VideoStudio but with other software / programs you are trying to run as well. Based on these errors, I am assume that the .dll files are either already corrupted in the first place, causing such errors to occur in most of the programs installed in your PC.

The only suggestion now that I can provide after completely trying to troubleshoot all the errors your has been incurring, is to completely reformat your PC in order to completely restore the corrupted .dll files. After completely doing so, any program you install thereafter should run smoothly.

Please contact the retailer / computer store where you purchased your computer in order to request for support on how to reformat this.

Allan

Hi Allan,

I have uninstalled all Apple products, including Itunes, as you suggested. And then re-installed the QuickTime player version noted on the website you attached -- QuickTime 7.6 (here is the link: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL762)

The program is still crashing consistantly when I try to render a project.

Would you like another .dmp file attached for analysis or more system info sent to you?

Please let me know what you would like me to do next to help me with this situation?

With Regards

Hi Allen,

Thanks for your email. I have done a number of things to attempt to resolve the problem.

1) I have set up a different user profile with only Video studio installed. Plus:
2) I have attempted to remove all other software that may have a conflicting codec.
3) I have downloaded and installed all of softwares you have listed in you reponse.

However, the program is still crashing.

This is very frustrating, what else could it be? Can you please help me.

I've attached the latest .dmp file to help you with your analysis.

Murray
Response (Allan) 07/29/2010 06:08 PM
Dear Murray,

Thank you for your e-mail. This issue might be due to the codec installed on your computer. If you recently installed third-party audio/video codec packs installed on your computer (e.g. K-lite codec, MegaPack codec, etc), please uninstall all those codec packs before running VideoStudio. Please make sure that you have installed the following softwares and you are using its latest version:

1.) QuickTime Player: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
2.) Adobe Flash Player: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
3.) DivX: http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/
4.) DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from http://search.microsoft.com/
5.) Xvid-1.2.2: http://www.koepi.info/Xvid-1.2.2-07062009.exe

Being able to play it doesn't guarantee that you have the appropriate codec for it. If you have codec packs installed, then this might cause compatibility problems. Codec packs are a compilation of codec taken from different manufacturers and are installed using improvised installation methods. Thus it sometimes causes problems. Make sure to install only the official codec for each video compression format.

VideoStudio requires codec from QuickTime in order to render AVI, MPEG-4, MOV or any QuickTime video formats. If you are working with AVI files, it is recommended that you install QuickTime. Please be advised that AVI files may use different types of compressions (MPEG-4, DivX, XviD, Real Media, etc.) to encode the video. Hence, you have to have the appropriate codec to re-encode the particular AVI file.

In the case of rendering a project into AVCHD or MPEG-2 format, please make sure that there are no other third-party codec installed on your computer that may affect AVCHD or MPEG-2 encoding.

For MPEG-4 v1 to V3, install the codec from Microsoft; for RM, install Real Media, for MOV files, install QuickTime; for DivX, install codec downloaded from http://www.DivX.com; etc. You can check what codec compression your AVI file uses by checking it with this simple tool ''MediaInfo''; it's a freeware tool that supplies technical and tag information about a video or audio file.

You may download it from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mediainfo/

If you have other capturing utility or other video editing application (outside Corel/InterVideo/Ulead), please remove them temporarily to check whether there is a software conflict.

Hi

I've created my first video (about 45 min long) and each time I try to convert it to video, no matter what format, I get an error. I've attached the .dmp file to help with your analysis.

I have a brand new computer (Intel core I7, 2.33ghz, 12GB RAM, etc) so I dont think its the problem.

Please help me.

Thanks
Murray

Hello and welcome to the forums

Unfortunately it appears quite a few people are having similar problems, have you read through this thread :- http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=38432
maybe there is something in there that helps.

Can I just say that with very very few exceptions no one on these forums actually works for Corel, so although it is interesting to see your discussion with them - none of us had any input to them , so your now talking to a whole bunch of people spread across the wide world who are users just trying to help other users - we'll do our best , but it's not our product.

Hi Murray

and again welcome.

I have read through your post, unfortunately it does not tell us much except the program crashes during rendering, maybe I missed something in the discussion notes. I do know that its 45 minutes long.

Can you sum-up just exactly what’s happening starting with:-

1 Your video files, what type are they, right click a clip in the timeline and select properties?

2 How did you get the video onto your pc, I suppose the answer would be self evident if we knew what files they were? and the camera type?

So the program crashes during rendering (Share Create Video File), When? At the same point? Random? At the end.?

If it crashes at the same point, what is in the timeline at that point?

3 / Do you get any fault notifications or does Video Studio just simply disappear?

4 / Knowing your location would be useful, then we would know if you use Pal or Ntsc

I’m sure I have missed something, but please don’t send the dmp file.

Please help so I finish my project!
Pro X3 is continually crashing during the rendering process,
though not consistently in the same spot.
These crashes are mainly of the type, "H264VencHP.dll" and "AppHangB1"
Once or twice I noticed an MS Visual C++ Runtime error.

Things I have tried: Removed clips, titles, overlays, audio,,
transitions, etc. Rendered only various segments of the project (I can
successfully do anywhere from 16 seconds to a max of 4-5 minutes worth,
out of a 30 minute project.). Stopped all but essential processes, with no other applications open.
Enabled/Disabled Smart Render & Smart Package. Accepted/Canceled Mpeg Optimizer.
Rendered as AVCHD and Blueray, instead of my usual "same as first clip." Installed all
the latest Corel updates/patches. Imported the project into Pro X2. Used System Restore.
I completed a project just 3 weeks ago with clips from the same period. (What could have
gone wrong since then?) I seldom if ever go online with my dedicated HP Quad Core
laptop, so I think I can rule out viruses. No Windows updates were ever installed.

My camcorder is a Canon HF100 with the clip properties: File Format: NTSC HDMV. 24 bits 1920 x 1080 16:9 VBR Max 16,000
DOLBY DIGITAL 48,000hz 256 kbps
I have read where other programs can cause conflicts with X3. such as Quicktime 7.6.6 (I have 7.1.3.),
and Roxio (don't have), Also, ditto for different codecs. But, all were in place previously, when I rendered
with ease. My goal is to have a file with which to burn a Blueray disc, such as I've burned before using X2 and X3.
Only now, for some unknown reason, I am stopped cold during rendering.

Found a solution for rendering crashes, hope it works for you!

I recently got a new machine with Windows 7 but kept VideoStudio on my old one with Windows XP just in case. It's good that I did because I ran into this render crash issue after installing to my new machine.

However, all I had to do is copy the program files, C>Program Files>Corel, from my Windows XP hard drive over to the program files on my new Windows 7 machine, C>Program Files (x86)>Corel, and now it renders just fine.
