Text wrap on a flat page; eg magazine page

Post by lakelady »

I would like to know how to change the shape of a text box so that the text remains editable; that is, when the size and shape of the text box changes, the text automatically justifies to fit the new box. If I have a text box across the top of a page, and want to change it so the text is lined up in a narrow box on the left, how is that done without the text becoming an image (distorted, uneditable)?

Also, If I have an irregular image on the page, how do I effectively wrap text around or on one side of the image?

I have searched and googled and get only "word wrap" instructions (text on a path), which is not what I am looking for.

Any help out there?

Thanks!! :)

You're object needs to be a path object in order to apply text to it. Have you looked in the Easy Palette, Galleries, Text Path Effects> Text Wrap? There's several examples provided.

You can change the shape of your text box using the Transform Tool. To edit the text, right-click on it, then select Edit Text.

Hi Ron,

I should have been clearer, sorry. I don't want a line of text circling or twisted or warped, which is what Text Wrap tools do... I need to know how to change the shape/size of a text box so that a *block* of text automatically justifies. I could then change the size and font if required by editing text. If I use the transform tool the size and shape of the text alters and becomes uneditable.
This function is common in publishing programs and I'm sure there must be a way to do it in PI?
Thanks
L.

Use the Transform Tool..

Then on the Attribute Toolbar select which one you want to apply to the text box

However to do anything else you must convert it to a path object, and then the text is no longer editable.

So I assume there is no justify function for blocks of text in PI, without distorting the size and shape of the text.

Thanks for trying to help, Ron.
