VideoStudio PRO X3 Messed up audio / Movie

Post by florian00777 »

Hello

The problem with my VideoStudio PRO X3 is that any Music or Avi , any video file , starts lagging when I press ''Project'' , . So , when I select my Avi file or Mp3 file as a Fragment it works, but when i clik on Project it all starts lagging . I have tried almost everything to solve this problem but it just cant seem to work.

Is there a solution to this , Please inform me about this , Thanks

Regards,
Florian00777

There are many, many different types of AVI and MP3. Please right click on one of the clips and post the properties here.

Where did you get these clips from? 426x320 is an odd frame size.

What are your project properties?

Previewing your project in VS, has been, and probably will always be rough, as it does not render the project for you to preview it. All edits are thrown together "on-the-fly". You are also using a highly compressed video file (DivX), which is more problematic then less compressed video files. Don't get too concerned about this. Try rendering your project, and see if the problem is present in the finished product.

Nope , when i finished the project and rendered it , it just came out the same and the rendering for 20 sec of film took over 7 minutes , should i Reinstall? the whole program ? cause i think somthing is very messed up with the whole program , and i havent done anything ! , thats the weird part , the only thing i did was insert clips , edit , and save .

By the way , its not the movies i insert , never messed anything up , i did that before the whole program messed up , they are just regular AVI files . Just to be clear it worked all pefectly before, and then for some mystical reason it all broke down .

You can try converting to a different (less compressed) format with SUPER (FREE!!!) before opening in Video Studio.

If you're making a DVD you can convert to MPEG-2 (Check Video Studio's project settings to get DVD-compatible MPEG-2 settings). Otherwise AVI/DV with uncompresed PCM (WAV) audio is usually foolproof. DV is what you get from a Mini-DV camcorder. It's much less-compressed than most formats, and the least-compressed formats tend to cause the least trouble...

If this works, but you don't want your final video in MPEG-2 or DV format, you can render to your desired format with Video Studio after editing. Video Studio rarely has trouble creating/compressing to any format of your choice, but de-compressing/editing/converting from many formats can be "difficult".
they are just regular AVI files .
Like Black Lab said, there are many AVI variations. Yours are apparently DivX encoded. There are DivX variations too... Some files will work and some other files won't. If you download files from the Internet, you will occasionally run-across files that cause trouble!

Hi, I have the exact same problem. I had this problem with Video Studio X2 and upgraded to X3 thinking it would solve the problem. The problem occurs with AVI files that came off of a digital camera and don't require special codecs to play.

This is very maddening. When I am in project mode it starts to lag and then it starts to loop previous audio. It is horrible. When I render the project the looping becomes part of the new video file.

Is there a solution to this problem?

I just paid the upgrade price for this software and I have been a customer since VS6.

How to fix!

Use VLC (http://www.videolan.org/) to convert the file from AVI to WMV

1) On "Media" menu click the "Convert / Save" menu or Ctrl+R
2) Click the Add button and add your AVI file
3) Click the "Convert / Save" button
4) Click the "Create a new profile" button (if you haven't done so, otherwise choose your profile from the profiles list and goto step 5)
a) Type a profile name)
b) On encapsulation tab choose MP4/MOV
c) On video codec tab click video check box, select WMV2 for the codec, 4032 kb/s for bit rate, 30 fps for frame rate, 1 for scale
d) On audio codec tab click audio check box, select MPEG audio for codec, select 256 kb/s for bit rate, 2 channels, 8000 sample rate
e) Save this
5) Enter a destination file with the extension of WMV
6) Click Start and the AVI will convert to WMV
7) Load this WMV into the timeline of Video Studio X3 and your audio will not lag in project mode

I don't know what to say because I struggled with the AVI problem for a half dozen hours. I used VLC to convert my video and now I can work with the files. I'll admit that ideally AVI files should work with the software. Also, I got better WMV quality and performance by going to 29.97 fps and 8192 kbs. What can I do to help you?
