Choppy video preview with X3 and AVCHD

Post by bchreng »

I've been trying to create a video from some AVCHD clips taken with my Canon Vixia HF10 camera. The problem is, when I'm editing and attempt to preview my work through the preview window, the video is incredibly choppy. It plays at a rate of what seems like 1 frame every 5-10 seconds. I've enabled smart proxy but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference at all. Is there some sort of other setting I have to fiddle around with to get a smooth preview video? The reason it bugs me is because my friend has a Macbook Pro with similar specs and the preview video runs very smoothly on iMovie.

Hi

Although you have enabled Smart Proxy you should view the Smart Proxy Manager to see if files have been created.
A small icon can be seen on the clip when Proxy files are created

Smart Proxy files are created when clips are added to the timeline.
If clips are already in the timeline (existing project) then the proxy files have to be created manually.
Right click a clip and select Create Smart Proxy Files.
Then view the Queue and File Manager.
