Hi Mike

No problems, there are many file types using those initials, so its not surprising we sometimes get confused, and there is no useless advice, It wasn’t that long ago that I realised I could play raw JPG Images via my DVD Player. (and maybe we should all clarify by adding Image or Video when referring to file types)

Hello everybody, I'm new to this forum and this is my first try do participate, so I hope I'm not going to make too many mistakes withe the Web Board Rules etc. (Which I also hope as far as my English is concerned because I'm no native speaker.)

I have X3 and I wish to make DVDs with no menu. I know this topic has been discussed over and over again by so many people but I'm afraid I still didn't quite get it:

I understand X3 comes with DVD Facory Pro 2010 which (unlike previous versions) doesn't offer the possibility to create a DVD with no menu. So far so bad. There were some alternatives, one of which was doing my edits on X3 and then going back to X2 to create my DVD but I don't have X2 so this doesn't fit me.

Another way is doing all my edits on X3, creating a DVD MPEG2 file in X3 and then switching over to Movie Factory 7 SE, importing the MPEG2 file and creating the DVD without menu via that file. This does work but I'm wondering if it might result in a considerable loss of quality since the mpeg2 file has to be re-rendered by Movie Factory. Or hasn't it?

Is there anybody who can tell if I'm right and there IS a loss of quality or if there isn't? Thanks, gnurpl

Hello and welcome to the forum - please do not worry about your English - it is excellent.

DVD Factory pro is no good at all - this was acknowledged by Corel when they made MovieFactory 7SE available free to all purchasers of X3 - so please drop DVD Factory.

There is no problem at all in creating an mpeg2 file in VideoStudio and importing that to Moviefactory to author it and burn the DVD - in fact that is basically the way that I and many others do it even in all other versions of VS which have the built in disc burning module - that is that after editing I make an mpeg2 file - then delete the project from within VideoStudio and import the new mpeg to create the DVD.

If the mpeg-2 file you make in X3 is DVD-compatible, then in MF7 SE, you make sure that under the Options icon in the bottom left of screen, the box beside 'Do not convert compliant mpeg files' is ticked. That way not further rendering of the original video you inserted takes place, and the quality is preserved as is.

having spent some time trying to find this option on X5 i thought i would post in case someone else is looking for it.

it's on the first screen #1 under advanced edit.

i think it might be better placed on the menu screen #2 'menus' at the top with a simple check box.
