Converting from X2 to X3

Post by duvall45 »

I am using my 30 day trial on x3 and thinking of switching. Can I import some of my menus that I have created in x2 into x3? Also I don't see many menu choices in x3, am I missing something? Don't see any text menus, looks like they are all motion menus.

Thanks
Trevor Andrew

Hi

The authoring module (DVD Factory 2010) provided with X3 is a joke.
Corel have recognised there mistake and provided DVD Movie Factory 7SE as a replacement, but not with the trial only for the full version.

When using X3 you will have to complete your project by Share Create Video File-DVD
Using the new file to burn your disc.
Use X2 to do this.

If you purchase X3 you then have the choice of using X2 or DVD Movie Factory 7SE to burn the discs.

The Movie Factory 7SE is a very similar format to the authoring in X2, you will be please to know with different menu templates.

As far as I know you will be able to use templates made with X2 in MF7SE.

Hope this Helps

Or, you can do as I do and complete your editing and create a video file in X3, then open X2 and burn using the trusted X2 burn module.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that I could use x3 for editing then x2 for burning in worse case but that is a pain. Anybody know where the templates are stored?

Hi

I assume you have customised the menu and subsequently saved the template.
It will be found here:-
C:\Users\User Name\Documents\Corel VideoStudio\12.0\Favorites

There will be a similar folder for MF7 under the Documents folder

There are two files associated with each template, copy both to the other folder.

Note you have to make your first template for the Favourites folder to be created.

There are some free templates that users have shared, do a search of the forum.

To create your own you would need Photo Impact http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=11378

Hope this helps

You have to close X3 and open X2. No more of a pain than closing X3 and opening MovieFactory. :?
