meaning of orange bar on timeline

Post by slyttle »

Got another newbe question about the X3 editor that I hope someone will be kind enough to answer.

What does an orange line between the timeline and the chapter / cue marker line indicate. (see picture below).

I am halfway through a project and suddenly notice this orange line that wasn't there before. I've looked through the documentation and see no mention of its meaning, and I have no idea what I did that triggered it to show up.

many thanks for what I am sure is an obvious answer (once I read it ;) )

Hi Sheldon
That's the trim marker showing the part of the clip that is trimmed. To get rid of it just slide the orange "handles just below the preview screen fully to the left and right respectively and the orange line will disappear.

Hi John

May be the eraser is gonna have a little use.

I wasn’t gonna comment but your prompt couldn’t be ignored

The Orange line is the Preview Range aka Project Playback range.

So I’m afraid its nothing to do with a trim marker for a particular clip.
Its related to project playback.

Usually this Orange line, red for earlier versions is set by mistake.
Whilst in Project Playback mode set the trim bars below the preview screen.

But once set can be used to play back just that particular area.

In addition it is also useful as you can select to render only that particular portion.
Share Create Video File
Share Create Sound File

Select the Options button and choose Entire Project or Preview Range.

Your not entirely wrong as the white bar, blue for earlier versions is sort of multi functional.
In Clip mode will trim the clip, that is remove frames.
In overlay track will set the fade duration
In Text/Title will manually set the animation times.

But only in Project Mode will it create the dreaded orange/red line.

I only called them "Trin markers" because that is what Corel calls on my copy of VS x3 as the screenshot shows!
Still never mind it worked for slyttle and i am away for a rew weeks now anyway. Wont be back until end of September ish, depends how things go.

hello, I am confused

I came here looking to get rid of the orange line.

I have only been using corel pro 4 for a few hours.

I get rid of the trim markers, but that just means my clip is the wrong length.

So can anyone tell me ( step by step !) how to get rid of the playback line, as I can't seem to..

any help would be great and appreciated

thanks !:))

Hi - if you look at the picture in the post right above yours you will see the situation - get rid of the trim markers is not what you do to clear the orange line.

Make sure you are in "Project" mode - the word project under the preview screen in highlighted - if it is not then click on it to make it so.

now if you have the orange line over your timeline slide the right hand trim marker all the way to the right hand end of the white line and the left han trim marker all the way to the left hand end of the white line - the orange line should vanish - but the trim markers will still be there.

If it does not please can you be a bit more specific about what you are doing and what you see onscreen.
