Have just bought the Panasonic HDC-HS700 (and very good it is too) and VS X3 to go with it, but have problems trying to capture videos from it. Despite choosing HDV in VS X3 with the camera connected, I keep being given a picture from the Logitech webcam of myself looking puzzled!
What should I be doing to capture material please?

Hi Geoff
and welcome to the forum........
Your camera is a HDD type.
Your video files being saved to the cameras hard drive as such you should be able to import the files to the pc in the same way as still images. Drag/Drop or Copy and Paste………
The camera may show as a removable drive on your Computer.
But you may be best to import the files using the software that came with the camera.
Once you have saved the files on your pc.
Open X3
Right click timeline and select Insert Video, browse your hard drive for the files.
Hope this helps

Yes, it certainly does help. A CD with HD Writer AE 2.1 software is included with the camera kit; now I realise that I should be using it to copy material into the computer and then following your instructions. MGM had better look to their laurels!
Many thanks.
Many thanks.

You can actually use VideoStudio Pro X3 to transfer the files over to the computer.GeoffO wrote:Yes, it certainly does help. 01. Launch VideoStudio and go into the advanced editor
02. Select the capture tab
03. You can use either Import from Digital Media or Import from Mobile device.
Both will work with your camera.
Because your camera uses memory cards or saves to a hard drive it does not install as a capture device but as a storage device and that is why you have to use one of the import features.

Thanks to all concerned. Glad I took the time to negotiate the major hurdle of putting in all the details of my computing machinery via Belarc Advisor.
I can now give the impression of actually knowing what I'm doing!
All good wishes,
Geoff
