Burn Video_TS and Audio_TS folders to DVD

Post by mitchell65 »

Must be getting old but have forgotten this! I normally create the VIDEO and AUDIO TS folders at the "Create a Disc" stage. Should I be burning them to a DVD as data or use the Create Video option. When I'm using HD I burn the BMDV folder to a DVD as data and that works fine (with video length shorter than bout 30 mins of course) in a Blu-Ray player!

Hi John

I had noticed that you commented some time ago that you could create the HD-BMDV then copy the folder to a disc as data and the disc would play ok.

I intended to do a test with Video_TS folders but up to date just haven’t done so.

Normally I would Share Create Video File from the project.
Then from a new project Share Create Disc-Add Video file.
I would then simply burn to disc.
If I needed multiple copies I would create an Iso file, using that to burn additional copies. ( I have VS 10 that has the DVD recorder)
Read my guide to DV-Avi (I assume you are using MiniDV)

I know some create the Video TS folders and use Nero to burn the disc.
I haven’t explored Movie Factory 7 to see if this program will burn ISO’s or TS folders to disc.

I know some create the Video TS folders and use Nero to burn the disc.
That's what I do. I open Nero and choose Burn Image to Disc.

So do you create an iso file Jeff?

No, in VS I create the DVD Folders. But Nero's command is Burn Image to Disc. :? Don't ask me, I just know it works.

I gave up creating .iso files a long time ago, I could not see any point in it, like Jeff I simply create a Video-TS folder at the Create Disc stage and then use Sonic which has a "Burn DVD folders to disc" option. I can then also play the Video-TS folder at any time on my PC using WinDVD - I never even bother with an Audio-TS folder.

Incidentally a large proportion of my output goes to my local school who simply copy the Video-TS folder to the school server, then produce 200+ DVD's by simply copying the folder from the server to the blank using drag and drop - they assure me they very rarely have any problem discs and have virtually no returns - they do this at least four times a year. I have tried this myself (just copy the folder from PC to disc) with no apparent problems.

I believe there is a thought that says that a DVD has to be created in a special way - all my experiences say that there is no need to involve any special process at all.
