When I open a raw file from my Sony Alpha A230, I only have the ability to change Brightness, Shadow and Saturation. Under White Balance I can choose a Preset or Adjust Temp and Tint and then under Reduce Noise I have one slider for Threshold.
In the manual it show more options including Exposure and Sharpness.
Just wondering if it is different between different raw formats or am I missing something?

Re: Raw Editor
Strange, this question has been asked 4times in the last 10 days. No-one before has noticed this (including me
)
What's the problem is that the product team took the wrong pictures for box and help file X3.
The current RAW lab is correct. There will be no update or feature enhancement for X3 (maybe in the next version

Re: Raw Editor
I use the RAW editing application that came with my camera (Digital Photo Pro for a Canon 50D). I then use the extensive adjustments to get the tone correct and sharpness and noise settings. I then export to a TIF file maintaining a high resolution for resizing, cropping, and further work in PSPX3. During the conversion/export process your selections (stored in metadata) are then actually applied to the pixels in the TIF export.
I burn to CD the RAW folders of my images so I always have a safe original copy to return to. I do not save djusted images in RAW format so the metadata stays intact. (In a RAW image the pixel values do not change. RAW edits only apply to metadata that is applied to the apparent image for viewing and printing within the RAW editor. This allows preservation of the full range of tonal capture for recovery.)
Perhaps if an extensive RAW editor did not come with your camera Sony might offer one on their web/support site. A description is here:
http://sony-image-data-suite.software.informer.com/3.0/
as well as a link to version 3.0. Apparently it is the Image Converter utility that provides some of what you are looking for. look particularly for a histogram utility and for the highlight, shadow, contrast, and brightness sliders or other means to adjust it. Include as much tonal value as you can before exporting it so it will be available for your PSP editing.

Re: Raw Editor
Those features were removed in the 13.2.0.35 update. I have no idea why.
The Raw Lab in PSPP X3 is a very poor raw converter. It lacks almost all the features of every other raw converter on the market... now it just lacks a couple more.
On the up side a couple of very bad bugs in the Raw lab were fixed. On the down side a couple of poorly implemented features were removed.
Every other raw converter takes your settings and applies them to the raw sensor data that was recorded in the raw file. PSP uses dubious presets to make an automatic conversion from the raw sensor data to 16 bit per channel bitmap, then applies any changes you make to that bitmap. Corel trumpeted the Raw Lab as a new and improved tool, but it is actually just a new interface to disguise the fact that that they are still doing raw conversions in the same lazy, inadequate and dishonest way as before.
I think I have tried every raw converter around, and I haven't found anything that is even close to being as bad as PSP's fake raw pre-processor. Don't bother with it.

Re: Raw Editor
@ Tim
Are you sure? I tested it on the PSPX2 13.0.0.253 (believing it was changed with the latest patch) and it was not there.

Re: Raw Editor
I have to agree about using a different RAW converter.... virtually everything (free and purchased) is better than PSP. I shoot with an Alpha 350 and it came with RAW software.... as RAW formats are proprietary, I can't imagine Sony releasing a camera without RAW conversion software.
Adverts for Corel products when you close PSP don't bother me.
