Several of a group will be making upwards of 100 DVD's for a 50th Anniversary of a Church for distribution. We will be using VS9 to make the video . Obviously if we were making it for an individual we would find out what plays on their DVD player and be done with it. No way to know in this particular case. Can anyone with experience please comment on if you would make them all in DVD+R or DVD-R.
Thanks
DVD+R or DVD-R

IMHO, I'd use DVD-R. I've been burning DVDs for a number of years and have found -R to br more compatible with more set top DVD players than +R media. Another factor is burn speed. I wouldn't go over 4X. Call me old fashioned but I believe in slow and steady. The faster the burn the more likely hood to encounter wrire errors.
Good luck on burning 100 DVds. You're burner is sure to get a real workout

I have read that DVD-R is slightly more compatible with older players. However, much more important than the type of media is making sure you are creating compliant DVD mpg video and making sure that the brand/type of media is compatible with your burner. Don't go with cheap, unproven media. Good luck.

I have been burning DVD-R for time now.
Sometimes I've found it also depends on the dvd burner.
Creating the video_ts folder using an application:
Using Sony Dvd-R's and burning the DVD-Video on a Sony DRU-510A
unit I've never had a dvd returned.
Using the same method and material except burning the dvd using
a Lite-On burner then some players would play them and others wouldn't.
The Lite-On burner is an older unit and wasn't expensive.
If I take a DVD+R and using Nero change the booktype to DVD-ROM I've
had great success for many units to play the disk that otherwise
wouldn't play the dvd.
Not all burners support changing the booktype.
The Sony DRU-510A doesn't.
The Sony DRU-700A does (will the latest firmware update).
The Lite-On burner does. Lite-On has a utility that after you put the
dvd in the drive you execute the program and change the Booktype
to DVD-ROM. Then using ulead you can burn the dvd.
Although when DVD+R came out I was skeptical to changeover, I've
found that they are very reliable and changing the booktype makes
them backwards compatible.

I have used Dvd-R discs for quite a while and have had no problems.
Once I made 50 one hour discs.
I used VS 8.
I first created a Disc Image File (ISO file) then used the Disc Image Recorder to burn the discs.
It took about 12 minutes to burn each disc, I expect this depends on your system.
Each time I passed the pc I put another disc in, takes time.
Good Luck
