I just finished a project and want to use an old menu I have saved as a v10 project. I open VS10 and try to open the project and...nothing. In fact, I have tried to open several v10 projects and none of them open. The bar at the top of the screen says Ulead VideoStudio (Untitled, DVD NTSC 720x480 - Stereo), no matter which v10 project I choose.
It would seem that any v10 project made prior to installing X3 will not open in VS10. Projects made in v10 after installation of X3 open ok.
Does anybody have a clue as to how I can open my old projects?

Hi Jeff
Make a copy of the VS10 VSP from windows explorer, just as a backup.
Open in X2, if no go, open in X3
Resave as a backward version. You may have to repeat if using X3
Does that now open in VS10
If not, send me a problem VSP and I will try.

Are your old VS 10 projects saved to an external hard drive. If so try just copying them to your "C" drive and then try to open in VS10. This worked for me!

Re: Cannot Open v10 Projects
Trevor: In X3 I opened the menu.vsp that I had saved. It opened it, in the fact that at the top of the page it said Corel VideoStudio (Menu.vsp, DVD NTSC 720x480 - Stereo), yet when I went to the Create Disc stage the menu, as I had designed it, was not there. I did not try to open another v10 vsp in this fashion.
John: I thought I had remembered someone else having this problem and I did, in fact, save a copy to my C: drive and tried it that way. No go. Did you actually make a copy to the C: drive, or did you move the original (not that it should make a difference)?

Re: Cannot Open v10 Projects
Hi Jeff
I just right clicked on the file in the Ext HD dragged to the desktop actually and and confirmed "Copy here" not "Move"
If you send the VSP to Trevor I would be happy to try it as well if you send it to me. Shouldn't need any other files to go with it should we?
EDIT: Just read your post again, Jeff. I'm sure I don't need to say that if you open the VS10 VSP in x2 or x3 and save it then you won't be able to open it in VS10. Sorry but it's so easy to miss a small point sometimes!

Re: Cannot Open v10 Projects
Hi Jeff
Does that video file still exist in its original location?
If not then you will probibaly loose the menu structure............
Using older versions of VS would to generate a re-link if the video file could not be found, now VS 10 just shows a blank timeline. (Share-Create disc).
So the question is :- where is the video file...........?
If you are having problems opening normal VSP's (not associated with Create Disc) then i may be able to open them, but not create disc ones without the video.
The project would have to have a video file inserted in order to create the menu.Black Lab wrote: It opened it, in the fact that at the top of the page it said Corel VideoStudio (Menu.vsp, DVD NTSC 720x480 - Stereo),

Re: Cannot Open v10 Projects
No, I did not open the vsp in X3 until after I tried it in VS10. Also, I did not save it in X3.
As for the original video file that goes with the menu, it is still in its original location. I will try also moving that to my C: drive. Will have to wait until I get home....

Hi Jeff
I think the original video file needs to be in the same location when the menu was created.

Re: Cannot Open v10 Projects
BTW, as I stated earlier, I did try to open other v10 VSPs - regular projects, not saved menus - and they would not open either. But, at this point, I don't remember what I first copied to my C: drive and what I didn't.
