Re: do i have to have psp7 installed
PSP 7 will install and work fine apart from the fancy gel windows display which will revert to classic view while the programme is running same with 8 and X although there is a patch for X for use with Vista and Win 7. As for installing an Upgrade. 8 will install on its own as that came direct from jasc . X Upgrades where available over the counter at retail outfits and where supposed to look to see if a previous legal copy was installed first. But some folks have managed to install them on there own.

Re: do i have to have psp7 installed
thank you trev bowden for replying. i bought psp7 from best buy, & psp X & X2 from corel in the box version as upgrades. so you think i can install X & X2 w/o installing psp7? i had 7 & X on another computer that's no longer in use. i'm just so confused on what to do. i just don't want to have any problems because i'm not that good at figuring them out. sorry to be a pain. tia

I miss read I though you had said Psp 8 and X.
Now I am told that It looks for Paint Shop Pro .exe so if you still have psp installed, copy that only and place it in you document on the new computer Then Try to install PSP X

Re: do i have to have psp7 installed
Do you have more than 1 CD/DVD drive? If so just drop the disc with PSP7 into one, and run the install for the other. I know with earlier versions of VideoStudio, the upgrades would see the disc in the drive and then proceed on with installing the newer version. It's somewhat of a PITA if you only have 1, as you have to start installing the upgrade, take that disc out, put in the older version's disc, then once the program sees that you do have an earlier qualifying version, replace the older disc with the one your upgrading to..

Re: do i have to have psp7 installed
hi trev, the pc that i had psp7 & 10 installed on is out of commision. so i would have to start fresh. i want to put them on my desktop running vista & on my laptop running windows 7. am i understanding this corectly, that when i install psp 7 it will update it automaticaly as well as pspX & X2? ron p, no i don't have two drives on my desktop, i guess i'll install psp7 & then go for the X & X2 upgrades & see what happens. i'd really rather install X & X2 but i guess i need 7 because the others are upgrades.
. thank you all for your replys. if you have any more suggestions i'm all ears. anyway now that i think of it psp7 has animation shop & i want to learn that as well. can you believe that i have these programs all this time & i still don't know how to use them
. i see i can learn alot here thanks to you wonderful & helpful people.

Re: do i have to have psp7 installed
One quick thing. I'm one of those users who bought an upgrade direct from Corel with absolutely no need to have a previous full-version installed on my system. I don't know if there's a difference between the retail upgrade and the upgrade from Corel but I would imagine so.
I know the one in the retail stores would require you to have the software in order to upgrade, but I believe Corel will sell you the full version at the upgrade price. So if you bought X and X2 direct from Corel, at the very least X2 should install without the need for an upgrade.
Because of this I have never needed to install a previous version to install the versions I bought at upgrade pricing (and the boxes did say upgrade on them). Might I suggest that you at least attempt to install the upgrades before installing version 7? The very least they could do is tell you they can't install. It would not be a waste of your time whether or not it works. Because after that, you'll know what you need to do.

Re: do i have to have psp7 installed
Hi to all
Let me tell you that no Corel software requires an installation of a previous version!
What ever you want to install, no version (PSP, VS and all others) will ask for an older version (maybe its serial number, but this is different).
