not a valid pspr file

I erased the background of a jpeg image then saved it it in My Pics as a pspro (X) image.It dissapeared from the workspace so i tried to open it up.It did not show as an image thumb in my pics but as a icon.Then up came a message that it was not a valid pspro image file and would not open.It is 16.1 mb.So now the image is lost and so was a lot of time.What is going on here Ken

the properties of the image icon in My Pics tell me that it is a paint shop pro X image.On trying to open it a box says that it is not a valid paint shop pro image file, that is all I can tell you

I take it that you have Show File Extension's turned off. I was thinking you may have have something like PsppImage just to confuse it.
There is Not a lot that you can do, But Viewing the File headers an a Hex reader might allow you to correct or add some missing Data to allow it to open

You may try changing the file extension to another PSP file.
.psp
.pspimage

I just tried doing that and PSP X wouldn't open the file afterwords, but X3 would. If you have another version of PSP you may try opening with that program.

Hopefully there's an option for you. However, keep in mind it's entirely possible that a problem occurred during the saving of the file and it's simply corrupt and unable to open at all anymore.

Which is why I always suggest saving any major changes in its own file to keep any changes and previous work separate. It's really good in case something like this happens and you have to start over. This way you don't have to start from the very beginning, only from the last save point using one of the earlier files.

Little things like this make working on hard or large projects that much easier to deal with.
