No video on TV after burning DVD

I've burned a DVD in VS9, using a Sony DVD-RW DRU-500A and it was succesful, but when I tried to watch it on the TV with the DVD player there was no video. The audio worked perfectly, but I only got a black screen.

The video runs perfectly on my computer, using PowerDVD, but I tried also playing it on a mac, (said it wasn't permitted) a dvd player, (said the disk was not valid) and another windows XP computer. On the last one the video played but the qualilty was terrible (the scenes and audio sort of pause and pause, as if it were in a poor slow motion, like)

I would greatly appreciate any solutions, as this was due for an exam today, and I have been given only this afternoon to fix it.
