Strange audio with .ts-video (helium voice, hum)

Post by polarbear »

Hi,

I've downloaded a .ts (mpeg-2 ts-video) file from my PVR satellite receiver which plays nicely on windows media player.
After inserting it in the timeline I tried the preview and got a very strange audio.
It sounds like someone speaks 2-3 times faster as usual with inhaled helium. Additionally a recuring hum occurs.

Does someone know what's happening here?

Best regards

Do you know the audio format? Is this first time you've tried a file captured from your satellite receiver?

In any case, you can try transcoding the file with SUPER (FREE!!!). There is an option in SUPER to select 'Stream Copy' for either the audio or video, so if you wish you can re-encode/convert the audio without touching the video. Or, you can try extracting the audio to a WAV file with SUPER, and then import that WAV audio into Video Studio.

Dear DVDDoug,

yes, that's the first time I tried to use such a file from that receiver.
I did some transcoding before but with another file format and another receiver.
After transcoding to .mpg with SUPER everything is fine.
Using .ts file directly with VS doesn't seem to work at all times.

Thanks!
