unable to see all FX options in Customize Filter window
I am running a demo of VSP X3 on Windows 7 home premium 64-bit. I installed 2 patches that I found and I am currently on 13.6.2.21. The problem is that when I open the "customize filter" window, I cannot see all of the options. The window cuts them off, and I am unable to scroll down or expand the window to see the rest of the options. For example, in the Color Balance customization window, I can only see red and green, but not blue. I can get to the blue control by tabbing to it and then adjust it by keying in a number, but I cannot actually see the field.
I searched but was unable to find anything about this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi
When you say “running the Demo’ do you mean the trial version?
Normally you cannot install patches to the trial version?????
Direct X
Manually updating Direct X has in the past cured some strange problems with Video Studio
There is a link to Direct X at the top of this forum.

Yes, it is the 30 day trial version. I encountered the problem before using any patches. I tried the patches and had no problem installing them, but they did not fix the problem.

Well, I tried updating directX and it didn't help. Any other suggestions? This is quite frustrating, as otherwise this looks like an excellent editing package for my needs.

Hi
There is a post at the top of this forum regarding W7 and Video Studio X2
A lot of remarks regarding buttons not showing properly. Not dissimilar to what you are seeing with X3

I have read through part but not found a fix, I don’t use Windows 7 but hopefully W7 users may reply to this post.

Re: unable to see all FX options in Customize Filter window
Do you by chance have your Windows taskbar located at the top of the screen instead of the bottom? I recently noticed the same problem, and it is now "bugged" with Corel. Until a fix is [maybe] released for this, just be sure to have the taskbar located somewhere else, or set the taskbar to "auto-hide."
Hope this helps!
Hope this helps!

Re: unable to see all FX options in Customize Filter window
Good call Ron!! I never would have thought the task bar would affect a dialog window in VS. I always run mine at the bottom, so never encountered this. So I moved it to the top, and viola.. it cuts off the bottom of the Customize dialog windows..
Thanks for discovering this. Now if Corel would fix it..

Hi
Nice one Ronald
I do not use W7 but tried with Vista, moving my tool/task bar to the top.
Unbelievable I see the problem when using the Colour Balance as described by improvius
Why it should affect this window as it floats over the main window is strange indeed. But it does.
By the way does Windows 7 use the tool/task bar at the top by default.

Re: unable to see all FX options in Customize Filter window
Thank you! That was definitely the problem. By default the bar is at the bottom, but I have always moved it to the top on my workstations just for personal preference. I was about to give up and try to find another editing application, as the demo expires in about a week. I am still a bit put off by their formal support, as they were unwilling to help me because I had not actually purchased the package yet. But now that I can get it to work, it looks like I'll be sticking with VS3 and purchasing the full version.

Re: unable to see all FX options in Customize Filter window
@Ron,
Thanks!
----------------------------
@Trevor,
No, Win7 doesn't display the taskbar at the top by default, it's just the way I prefer it - top, down, left to right. BTW, this was also a problem in Windows XP, and actually I saw this behavior beginning with VSX2. I had forgotten that I changed my taskbar in XP to auto-hide, but at least Corel is aware of the problem now and will hopefully fix this minor annoyance!
---------------------------
@Improvius,
I'm glad I could be of assistance! Just remember the user-to-user board here. There are lots of dedicated folks here (who aren't on Corel's payrolls) who are always willing to lend a helping hand.
Thanks!
