Hybrid DVD disc is not readable

Post by aa7dj »

I'm trying to burn my first hibrid disc.

First I take a clip to timeline of VS X3. Clip is 40 seconds of 24 MB/s *.mts file from MXP mode in Canon HFS100 camcorder.

Then I go to Share => Create Video File => AVCHD => NTSC HD-1920.

After that I save my file. On some reason only *.MPG extension is available.

After rendering I close VS X3 and open MF7SE.

Now I see step 1 with three buttons. What should I choose for hybrid DVD disc?

I choose DVD. In step 2 I choose AVCHD.

Then I insert my file prepared in VS X3. And go to burning process.

After everything was finished I take my disc to NB530MGX Magnavox (Funai) Blue-Ray player.

And see a message that disk is not readable.

I can not say that it is only attempt I did. I have four DVD discs with different settings but with the same result. Only one disc is viewable. But it was done as MPEG in VS X3 and DVD=>DVD Video in MF7SE. Quality was not that I expected to see.

Please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Looking at the specifications of your Magnavox on http://www.magnavox.com/p/spec_player.php?id=30 , I do not see AVCHD hybrid discs as being amongst the type of discs it can play. This may be an oversight on that specifications page, but normally, if a Blu-Ray player is rated to play hybrid discs, it will specifically say either 'hybrid' or 'AVCHD' discs can be played.

Sony and Panasonic were the originators of the AVCHD format and all their Blu-Ray players will play hybrid discs. However, with other manufacturers, the story is mixed and some will play hybrid discs, but others won't.

Hi Ken,

Thank you for your suggestion. I had a talk with associate in the store and will come with my discs tomorrow. They have one Sony player connected to HD TV. It will be intertesting to see if it will playback my tests.

You didn't mention about my mistakes. I hope I did right...

Thank you very much.
