Cannot Import AVI Files From DVD

Post by NOKNOT »

I am running Video Studio 11.5. I have a DVD with AVI files of a home movie. I have tried to import them into Studio but have not been able to. Am I doing something wrong or can this not be done? Thanks.

Is this a DVD video disc? If so, then they are not avi files, but mpeg-2 files. How are you trying to import them?

or if it is a data disc and what sort of avi are they? avi is a wrapper and can contain over 800 different file types!!!!! from dv.avi which is common and easy to use to highly compressed divx/xvid/mjpeg files which are harder to use.

Thanks for the help. I have a DVD that when I open contains 5 files which, when I look at the properties, say AVI Windows Movie File. I opened Studio clicked on capture then import from DVD. The import button stays grayed out and it asks to download folder. These files will play on KMPlayer. I have made several movies using camcorder, this is first time I have tried copying files from DVD. From what I can gather these have been downloaded from camcorder to hard drive then to a disk again, so now I have them to try and put some menus to them. Thanks again.

Thanks guys I figured it out. After reading skier-huges it dawned on me it might be a data disk so I opened it as such. Thanks again.
