I have used VS7 & 8, and just received my boxed VS9 yesterday. But I don't look forward to installing it mainly because of the pain of carrying over all of my customizations and additions from my VS8 setup, mainly the titles, clips, and images that I've added to the library, not to mention custom media templates, additional menu templates, etc., etc.
Couldn't they have some option to import these settings, clips, etc. from a previous version installation? I expect that if I open one of my VS8 project files to maybe add to it in VS9, I am going to get a bunch of errors and warnings due to not being able to find various components that were in my VS8 library. Is there any way around this except to try to manually duplicate everything that I had in VS8?
Wish for better "upgrade" options

Yes, you point out a very big problem with the VS upgrade process. I too have felt this pain with every upgrade. Unfortunately, my only solution has been to figure out where everything is stored and manually copy and re-add it all to the new VS library. It is frustrating to spend 30 minutes installing the software and then 4 hours copying files and adding them back into VS libraries.

I don't know VS, the last one (also the first) I used, was VS 5. In Pi for example, I save all my presets, filters etc., not in the folder where PI wants to put it but outside of PI. In the preferences I point PI to where the presets etc. are stored and, voila, problem licked.
Sometimes it helps to learn something about a software prior to using it or bagging it.
I didn't mean this personal, just a general sentiment I get looking at these forums.
See if it works for VS
