Installing PSPP X3 from download version

Post by icar36 »

Hi,

Wonder if someone can help.

Bought the download version of PSPP X3 yesterday and since then have been trying installing it following 'support' instructions (How to remove... ), without any success...

Downloaded the folder several time, disabled absolutely everything and still, at about 20% of extraction/installation, a message props up...

Are you sure you want to completely remove Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3 and all of its features, with an option to Clear all personal settings in Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3... I click on 'Remove' and the following message appears:
Installation Wizard not completed...
Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again. Click 'Finish' to exit the wizard.
This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.

Obviously nothing has been extracted and installed...

After about 6 attempts I am now reaching a point where I am about to abandon and return the product to Corel... I have never experienced a software so difficult and capricious before... It has to be the most difficult product to download/extract and install I went through in years.

What can I do?

Not trying to remove anything, just that during the installation, a window props up and asks if I want to remove anything...

The "stickie" (How to remove... ) Corel is for people who have already installed it and later need to remove it completely.
You never had a Corel trial version on your PC correct?

Maybe you have a "permissions" or security problem.
Are you logged in a Administrator and installing as Administrator?

Then, during setup, when asked if you want to remove say, No.

Does setup installation continue?

I have exactly the same problem. I purchased the download version of PSPP X3 this morning. I installed it. When I tried to open it, nothing happened. I looked in Windows Explorer and saw there was a setup.exe so I thought I had to go one step further to install it, but when I opened that, it uninstalled it. I have done this exactly seven times today, 7 times installing and 7 times uninstalling. I never intended uninstalling, it just does that. When it looks like it is installed, the Program cannot be found in Windows Explorer but it does appear in the Programs List from the Start button, but clicking on that does nothing at all. I cannot access the Program. It is a brand new installation and I never had a trial version. I have previous purchased versions but never a trial version.

There is a link to read installation information but it refers to PSP X2, not X3, and even PSP X2 only mentions upgrading trial versions, nothing about installing.

I have spent all afternoon on this so any help would be appreciated.

I am the sole owner and user of my computer so permissions is not an issue.

Thank you.

The Installation does take a long time unpacking before starting the install That too seams to take an age and one often thinks it stopped. It must be problematic as Corel have a costumer service just for Installation problems Even a phone line

I contacted Support and they replied as under and all is well now.

This means there are missing components in your system that is required by the installer. Please download the following files and install them in this order:

1. Windows Installer 4.5:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942288

2. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Redistributable Package:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=en

3. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

Once these updates are installed, restart your system and try again to run your Corel software installer.
