PSPX3 Problem Loading Saved Workspace

Post by krys1202 »

In the last couple of weeks PSPX3 does not load my saved workspace or the default workspace. It also does not open with the last workspace in tact.

I can close PSPX3 with my workspace the way it should be and the way I like it, but when I reopen it only part of my workspace is present and when I try to load my saved workspace nothing at all happens. When I try to manually re-create my workspace, the Toolbars and Palettes that I use are selected, but are not visible in the workspace; deselecting them and re-selecting them does not solve the problem either.

I have tried a clean install of PSPX3 (which created a whole new set of headaches) and it has taken me 2 days to get the program up and running again. Thank goodness my script for preferences worked, but I had to spend a couple of hours fixing my workspace just the way I like it. I did this yesterday and when I opened it today my workspace was again gone.

I found that saved workspaces do not work with PSPX3 in the same way it has with prior versions (I have used 7 through X2Ultimate and now X3, except for X1); in all prior versions I had a maximized workspace and a minimized workspace that I save and used. When I loaded either one, PSP would maximize or minimize depending on which one I loaded. However, in PSPX3, the program pays no attention to the size of the window I wanted to use and simply loaded the workspace using the size of the current open window. I could and did live with that, but I simply must be able to load my workspace and not have to spend 2 hours every day customizing the workspace.

I know that my workspace is being saved because when I go to the folder in which it is saved, the date and time of the workspace file have been updated.

Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

All though I have had my workspace change on opening X3. loading my workspace has always worked. Things to try checking preferences General preference Default Launch workspace is set to last used. Next Preferences reset preferences Default workspace then load your saved workspace. Lastly If the registry entries for X3, where all the workspace entries are kept has been corrupted reinstalling will not work.
It needs the cleanup tool from corel after un install. See the second sticky for Paint shop Pro

I went through and did everything in the instructions for manually removing Pain Shop Photo ProX3, EXCEPT I did not delete My PSP Files and I cannot believe that is an instruction!!!

I have reinstalled PSPX3 and I still cannot load my saved workspace; when I try to customize I get an error message: "Encountered an Improper Argument"

Any other suggestions?

Thank you for your help.
