save Bluray files to disk rather than burn?

Several users have been unsure where to post issues relating to the copy of MovieFactory 7 SE now supplied with VideoStudio X3. To make life easier you can post problems here.

save Bluray files to disk rather than burn?

Post by richalt2 »

Can I save the VideoStudio Pro x3 - MovieFactory 7E Bluray files to disk, rather than burning a Bluray? I wish to keep the images around for future burning, and not re-create them. Also I'm not sure I yet trust the burning robustness of MF7 (e.g. 100% verification of media burn).
Thank you, Rich

Sure. Once you have selected Blu-Ray (BDMV) as the output, inserted your video, built your menu (if you want one), then on the final burning page, select 'Create Blu-Ray folders' instead of an actual disc. Blu-Ray does not burn to an ISO file, but the folder is of course much the same. And you can use another program (like Nero) to burn it to disc when you want. And of course you can also play the folder on your computer using a Blu-Ray rated software player...

In case the 'Create Blu-Ray folders' does not show when you first open the last page, then less than a third the way down the page, below the horizontal line, to the far right of the box 'Create to Disc' there should be a downward-pointing double arrow. Click on that and 'Create Blu-Ray folders' should then appear.

Very nice, that did it! I did not notice the small double down arrow icon.
Just one more question: can this MovieFactory produce MPEG-4 output (rather than high bitrate MPEG-2) for Bluray?
Thanks!
