BB writing error insufficient memory

Post by Ragtop »

I am running the trial version of X3 on a brand new Dell XPS 9000 computer: i7-920 Intel core, 8GB DDR3 memory, 1GB
ATI Radeon HD 5870, and a mostly free 1.5TB harddrive.

And X3 crashes with three small 1080p clips (less then a minute) from a ContourHD camera.

It says it can't write to BB or insufficient memory error messages and windows 7 shuts the program down.

What the bleep?!?!?!!?

More info.
I copy the files from the video camera to a directory on the harddrive and add these to a library in X3. I can play the clips in X3's preview, but when I scrub or
move the trim markers the preview window goes black and eventually the program crashes.

The contourHD saves the video in .mov files: 24 bits 1920x1080 Compression: Ambarella AVC encoder. sound mpeg4 low complexity AAC

Thank you. I was so busy making sure I had the newest drivers; the thought of having to get older quicktime
drivers never occurred to me.

It seems a bit slow when moving scrubber bar but so far no crashes.

I spoke too soon. X3 is still crashing. I get the error message in included message. I just can't phantom how memory could be an issue with 8gb of memory and 16gb of virtual memory.

There is a few things that we need to check,

Can you please post some more information regarding the video files you are using? In X3 right click on the clip that is located in the video library and select properties. Here you will see all the attributes of your video file, can you please post the information from that window in the forum.

Can you right click on the icon for X3 and then select properties, then select the compatibility tab. Here check to see if anything is selected, there should be nothing checked in this tab

The rendering in X3 is done through the GPU of the video card, check the driver release date and version number using the "dxdiag tool". To run the dxdiag tool click the windows start button at the bottom left corner and then in the search bar type dxdiag and press enter. Select Display (Display 1) and then to the right you will see your driver information. You can also check on ATI web site to see if there is any new drivers posted.

One test to try is a clean boot, click start and then in the Windows search bar type msconfig and press enter on the keyboard. You should now have the System Configuration tool open. Select the startup tab, take note of anything you have unchecked on this screen and then select disable all. Next select the Services tab, at the lower left you will see the option to "hide all Microsoft services", place a check mark in the box to hide the Microsoft services and then select disable all. Now go through the list and look for "ProtexisLicensing" and re-enable the service by placing a check mark in the box to the right of it. Now select Apply and then OK. You will now be prompted to reboot the computer system, reboot and test again.

I will look at updating the ATI files but the computer was custom put together by Dell less then a week ago, I would hope that they would use the most updated files available.

The ATI driver info:

I guess that was too much to hope for. Looks like the current driver is 10.6

Well after doing all this, now it stays stable enough to do trim work on an average of six videos before locking up without ANY error messages. I just get windows new hourglass, the spinning ring.

Strangely through it doesn't play the videos as smoothly as before I started the fixes. It stutters.

Where are the video files stored? (e.g. Main hard driver, external hard drive or network drive)

I still get this error message a few times when I get an error message before the crash. Interestingly it is always the same number whatever that might mean.
Just did a google search, hd video has 1555200 pixels.
