I would like to say thanks for the help and advice I have received both from the tutorials and individual comments from members. Its a lot to learn with a new editing program and new camera.
Please give me any feedback on my latest project - I entered it into the virgin media shorts for film makers.
This was a solo effort from start to finish using my Canon HG10 and editing with VSX3. Only the second time I have used my green screen - had to film on a bright day as I do not have any lights yet. The film was more of a technical exercise in trying to more effectively use green screen and overlay techniques and using the cropping tools to fit it into the mirror. I filmed it in less than than 30 minutes although planning and editing took considerably longer. Would another pair of hands been useful - maybe - but it was more a challenge to make it work on my own.

Allan . . .
I am greatly impressed!!!! <applause!> You did yourself proud, my friend, you really did.
Was part of the 48 Hour Film Contest http://www.48hourfilm.com/ a couple of years ago, and I have a healthy dose of appreciation for what it takes to put something together like you did. While I've been playing with video editing for over a decade, don't think I could have done what you did. I recall we considered using green screen shots in our entry, it was a bit too difficult to use at the time.
Keep up the good work!
Regards,
LGO

That competition, or something similar, has been featured in Videomaker Magazine. Yes, looks interesting. But also daunting!

Re: New Tutorials for VideoStudiox3
Yea, Jeff, "daunting" is one way to put it! <LOL>
Fortunately, the team I was on did a "practice" video the month before so we could get used to the time constraints and the things we would have to deal with logistically during the real 48 Hour Film Contest. That practice run served us well!
While daunting it was, the contest was also a helluva educational experience. We had 4 main members of the team, and we ended up with about a dozen "helpers" who were spouses, friends, etc. doing various tasks for props, costumes, etc. We had about 10 actors (including extras) whom we found all using Craig's List. Never thought it would work but it did so incredibly well.
If it is of interest to you, and there's a 48 Hour Film Contest in your area, contact them and volunteer to be part of a team so you can learn the ropes. Not much time involvement there. Or, you could do like we did and just jump in with both feet.
There were 44 teams the year I did it, and 38 of them turned in completed videos on time. At the screening in a local theater the next week, we thought our work fell somewhere in 15th to 20th spot. Not bad for first time out. There were some really GOOD entries though!!
Good luck,
LGO
