Video Studio 6 capture problems

I have just got a new camcorder, and with it was a disc for videostudio 6...whih it appears, reading here, is a fairly old version, but thats ok cos I am only learning! I am having problems tho. I have put the video from my camcorder onto my computer in 'My Videos' file, but when I go into viseostudio 6 and try to browse and open the file, nothing happens, I have tried everything and it appears to be telling me that I have no 'capture device'. Being new to all this I havent a clue what its all about and would appreciate some help from you nice people

you cannot import video into vs while you are in capture mode click on the edit tab at the top, select video in the drop down on the right then browse for files by clicking on the file icon this is for vs8 vs6 should be similar

Thanks Bop! Much appreciated, I have just managed to get my clips in to have a mess around,thanks to your info, I will play next week before I go on Holiday.....have to need to know for then so I dont mess up my holiday vid!!
