The Sony software is out to lunch. PS CS does an excellent job but I prefer to work with PI. Having to use PS as a file converter is expensive!

Support for RAW files
Has anyone got a way to open or import Sony RAW files? It is a pain to have to use PS CS just to open and convert my RAW files!

I think support for camera RAW files is something a lot of us would like to have.
I am using a RAW converter from Pixmantec.com called Raw Shooter Essentials. It is freeware, at least for now, as it seems to be still in development. It works well with my Minolta. Once I learned how to use it, I found it to be extremely useful and flexible. Very well thought out UI and pretty quick to learn.

I guess I should have made my case a little more clear at the start. I have PS CS so I have no sweat opening the SRF's. My point is that IMO PI should have the capability. I actually prefer using PI (I'm 69 and don't have enough time left to really learn PS)

Another ancient mariner, I am a few years short of your wisdom.
Adobe has a few other products less expensive that have the conversion Tools.
I like PI 10 also, an easy program to work with. Hey, sounds like you have an idea that should be posed to Ulead. I am sure they are only adding the most popular formats for the time being. Everyone is playing catch-up to Adobe.
If I learned Photoshop you can to; get the Book, Photoshop 7 (or CS) Artistry by Barry Haynes and Wendy Crumpler. www.barryhaynes.com This book will save you years, the Top Book on Photoshop.

Tried one more futile search!
There is little I can find from Ulead, tried for days to do various searches and can not get through to the server at anytime.
Download pictures from your digital Camera straight to a target folder by using the Digital Camera Wizard under the File menu.
Select your digital Camera model. If your Camera is not listed, select Generic. To view Camera Types click on Generic. In the Select Type of Digital Camera dialog box, under the heading Digital Camera Name, select Generic Sony Digital Camera.
Nothing on RAW SRF support anywhere within Ulead.
However, on a high-note;
At www.barryhaynes.com under the Tips page is a three page PDF article about Automating Camera Raw files in CS. Although he uses a Mac interface, much of the detailed description about processing your images is great stuff, especially if you are on a short learning curve.

Many thanks for your time and trouble!
As for PS, I get along fairly well with it for an old dummy! Just that I have used PI for a long time and have gotten used to it and would rather not have to fire up PS just to convert the RAW files. Maybe down the road, the DNG format will become a standard (but I doubt it).
When I look at all the books I have for PS it scares me!
