X3 File Open crashes with Win7 64-bit
I have migrated to a new PC with Windows7 64-bit.
I installed my copy of PSPP X3 and it works fine except for two issues.
The File Open dialog always crashes the program when I use it
although Drag&Drop and Recent Files work fine.
Another (related) issue is that I cannot use Customize Scripts either.
Does anyone have any suggestions, apart from reinstalling?
Thanks

Re: X3 File Open crashes with Win7 64-bit
I have also discovered that if I invoke the Open File dialog
and then close or 'Cancel' then X3 crashes !!!

Hi Tadjio Have we upset you in the NG.
I don't have a Real answer . Maybe its trying to open a previous folder that no longer exists. Not sure if resetting to default might work. Shift key on open.

Re: X3 File Open crashes with Win7 64-bit
Hi Trev
Life's too busy to mess around in the NG
Both with installing my super new PC (Win7, 64bit, i7x4, 8Gb, 2.5Tb etc.)
and with Real Life in the form of building work around our house and garden
I'm still playing around with re-installing X3, following Simone's suggestions
including UAC, Cleanup and Run as Admin.
Possibly it's X3 Patch 2 (or 1) that is fouling it up.

Re: X3 File Open crashes with Win7 64-bit
I have finally managed to find the cause of this crash.
It occured once I tried to use the old "My PSP Files" from my previous Vista PC Installation.
Finally I found that if I place ANY Script in Scripts-Trusted or in Scripts-Restricted
then X3 crashes in any of the following circumstances:
1) Use File Open dialog - even if you Cancel out
2) Choose a Script in the Script Palette.
3) Use Customize Scripts
Can anyone else reproduce this?
(using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit ideally)
Thanks

Re: X3 File Open crashes with Win7 64-bit
Any script? Or any script from your old PSP Files folder? And any script any script? Or certain scripts? I mean did you actually test each script or just put them in and take them out?
Essentially I can put scripts in my scripts-restricted and scripts-trusted folders without any problems. Have for a while now. I do a lot of my own scripting. So I can't reproduce your problems with the information you gave.

My OS is listed to the side just like yours.
Mine is the same but 32-bit not 64-bit.

Re: X3 File Open crashes with Win7 64-bit
I never looked to the side for your OS
I was curious why the web board insists on all those details now
(but did not do so before when I registered)
all I wanted to update was my camera model...
Anyway, perhaps it is a 64-bit issue???

Re: X3 File Open crashes with Win7 64-bit
I am using 32 bit Win 7 So it might be a 64 bit transalation problem.
Have you tried adding 2 new script folder and putsome scripts into there then adding the location in File Locations. Now are these Custmize scripts to replace the Regestry entries? Maybe Win & and Vista disagre about wher the entries shold be.

Re: X3 File Open crashes with Win7 64-bit
Thanks Trev, great idea.
I created a new folder Scripts-Trusted-VISTA and
pointed to it in File Locations as a 3rd folder for Scripts-Trusted.
(The Corel default Program File folder also works and you cannot remove it).
I still can't put any Script into Scripts-Trusted itself.
I wonder if it is because I have pointed "My Documents" to Drive D:?
Keep up the good ideas...

Re: X3 File Open crashes with Win7 64-bit
FWIW ... I'm getting the very same results (well, sort of) as you describe. Cannot do a 'File Open' (or Save), but I can Drag-n-Drop a file and it will open. Plus, I can double-click on a file and it will open. Just cannot go ANYWHERE NEAR the File Open / Save commands.
But here's the difference ... I'm not talkin' PSP, but Corel Script Editor.
My scenario:
- Clean install of Win7 Pro 32-bit.
- Installed Corel Ventura 8, which includes the Script Editor
- Installed Corel Ventura 10 (which doesn't . . . don't ask why)
- have all service patches up-to-date
Corel Ventura 8 and 10 work fine.
Corel Script Editor RUNS. But ... I cannot touch the File Open / Save commands. NOR can I use the script command GETFILEBOX - it too causes a crash, but, this might be unrelated. I only mention it because of it's relation to the File System.
I'd be VERY keen to know if anyone comes up with a solution for this.
At least this helps COMPLICATE the matter ... it ISN'T specific to PSP. Nor is it specific to 64-bit. Etc.
