Problems when rendering video
Hello everyone,
I bought a new notebook (Asus G60JX) only to try render my Full HD videos because my can't do it with my desktop (I don't know why).
This notebook haven't any program installed (only Windows 7, factory stuffs and k-lite mega codec pack) just to try Videostudio.
My problem:
I'm getting some problems when rendering video on Blu-ray format (or another Full HD format).
When I click on Share and select Blu-ray > NTSC H.264 (1920x1080) the program shows me a message with smart render...
I click on CANCEL and the render process begin... BUT the Videostudio stop and freeze... I need to finalize the program to return to Windows.
If I choice another kind of file, like wmv, the render process running right...
I found some errors on Windows Events with videostudio name. Event ID 1002, Application Hang.
What I need to do to render right and finalize my movie?
My Videostudio:
I have Corel Videostudio X3 Pro (downloaded version) with 13.6.2.21 version.
My Windows:
I have Windows 7 64bits Premium Edition with K-lite Codec Pack installed.
All movies are been playing well (with subtitles). M2TS and MKV are running right. My DirectX is DirectX11.
My O.S. are fully updated and running very well.
My project:
My project has a lot of Full HD movies (recorded on my Panasonic Full HD camera that create M2TS files).
There're pictures and low quality movies with a lot of transitions.
The total time is 55 minutes.
My machine:
Asus notebook with Core i7 1.6Ghz, 6Gb DDR3 1333Mhz, nVidia GTS 360M 1Gb DDR, 500Gb HD and Win7 64Bits Premium.

Re: Problems when rendering video
Have you tried rendering the file using the Blu-ray template to MPEG2 (1920x1080)?
I have seen issues with people using i7 processors and rendering to a file format using H.264.
If you go through the Windows event viewer looking at the error messages, do you find any that have a faulting module H264VDec.dll?
Error:
Faulting application name: vstudio.exe, version: 13.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4bd90870
Faulting module name: H264VDec.dll

Re: Problems when rendering video
Let me ask something:
- To work with all kinds of videos and render in all formats, I only need to install Videostudio? Don't I need to install another software (like codecs) to use avi, divx, flash and others formats on my projects?
My steps:
I'm going to remove all codec packs installed on my machine, remove my Videostudio (and reinstall it) to try another time.
BUT on my actual project some videos (avi files) appears with blank screen and don't play (only sound). This video files are my video utilities like baloons and starting frames and properties (getting on Videostudio) are Microsoft AVI files, size 4,5mb, 30.000 frames/sec, 24bits, 720x480, 491.77 kbps and 8 seconds.
Thanks again to your help.
I'm trying to render this video since January without success.

Re: Problems when rendering video
Yes it is true that (a) you might need specific codecs and (b) while VS installs some codecs, if you are using a specific camcorder or source of videos, you might need to install an outside codec.
The problem is that many (most?) people will often install a codec pack (like Mega Codec Pack) thinking that resolves the problem, when often it actually creates it. Mega codec packs are fine, as long as you don't install the whole thing. If you know which codecs you are after, select and install them only. The problem is that with so many (literally hundreds of) codecs, there will be inevitable conflicts between some or many of the codecs if you install them all -- let alone conflicts with those already installed by legitimate video programs like VS.
Now one of your problems is that you say you have AVI files. The problem there is that there is literally over 800 different video formats which use the .avi extension. AVI is in fact only a wrapper format/extension and it can run from *pure* AVI which is huge at 65 GB per hour of video, through DV/AVI at around 13 GB per hour, down to highly compressed mpeg-4 formats like DIV-X or XVid which will only be 700 MB per hour or less.
Now despite the fact that you have given us a HUGE amount of data (for which, thanks!!
) we still actually don't have any idea where the original video came from (or have I overlooked something). It could very well be that you are using something like a helmet camera or something special like that (since you mention amongst the mass of data a fps of 30 fps which is usually associated with a non-standard device)... And usually something special comes with an installation CD which will contain the relevant codec, rather than the shotgun approach of installing K-Lite!!!

Re: Problems when rendering video
Well,
I did as promised...
Remove codec pack, remove Videostudio and reinstall Videostudio. I used ccleaner to remove all registry errors too.
Some video files still with blank screen but I try to render nevertheless...
The application hangs on render using Full HD mode (mpeg2 or h264).
The application abort render process using wmv render mode. Process until 25%.
Another ideas?
Thanks again

Re: Problems when rendering video
But you still don't tell us what the video you are using apart from the HF video from the Panasonic. The latter should not be causing any problem. So I am wondering about the source of the non-Pansonic video...
And have I already asked whether you are using SmartRender or not? If so, switch it off...

My project has a lot of stuffs like photos, avi (low quality), full hd (m2ts) and mov files.
There're music, transitions and other stuffs.

Re: Problems when rendering video
Hi
First of all I don’t work with HD, only having some samples to use as tests.
Your VSP, your project is very busy, not much good to us as we would need all files associated with the VSP to make any sense out of it.
The only clip working being the Start Avi, strange that this clip does not have audio, was sure my copy had audio.
The HD video file, (mt2s) …….well I can play the video in the timeline in ‘project mode’, but not in ‘clip mode’, that simply crashes VS. with some reference to the H264VDEC.dll
I have same problems with similar clips I own.
If I render to Bluray, it completes the render ok, but subsequently crashes when trying to play the clip, which it does after each render. There was an option to Play File after creating, disabled and render is ok, but still cannot play in clip mode.
Rob717 posted details of the event viewer and H264VDEC.dll. this is what I saw on my event viewer.
Video Studio X2
I am able to use the files with no problem as far as I can tell.
I was able to batch convert to NTSC HDMV replacing the H264 with Mpeg2.
These files work ok.
So although you are using HD video are you intending to burn a Bluray disc?

Re: Problems when rendering video
Thanks for your answer Trevor...
I only want to create some video to watch it on my Playstation 3 console.
Or play it on another player...
I spent a lot of hours on this project and need to finish it.
I don't want to change this software (to another) because I don't want to lost all my work hours...
I'll call to Brazilian Corel Support to help me with this.
I'm trying to make this work since January and nothing is working.
I already bought a new machine (Core i7 and Windows 7) and nothing is working...
Thanks

Re: Problems when rendering video
When playing a video in Project mode you are using VideoStudio for the play back, when using Clip mode you are using the Windows Default player for that clip.trevor andrew wrote:Hi

If you have Smart Proxy turned on then when in project mode you will be playing back the Proxy file (e.g. AVI file) and not the m2ts file.
Are you able to play the m2ts file in your Windows Default player for that file? if you are not then it could be the video play back software you have installed on the system or a codec issue.
When you rendered the file in to Blu-ray format did you use the MPEG2 or H.264 template?
What version of QuickTime do you have installed on the system? I have read about a lot of issue with QuickTime 7.6.6 but in the event viewer you would see some error's with the faulting module "CoreAudioToolBox.dll" (its an Apple dll not a Corel, located in the Apple Application Support Program folder. I thought it was Corel because it started with Core... I was wrong)
Have you updated the video card drivers and Direct X? could you please post your driver release date and version number? (you can find out your driver information by running dxdiag in the run box of windows and selecting the display tab.

The following types of files can be played under (Video) on the PS3.
Memory Stick Video Format
- MPEG-4 SP (AAC LC)
- H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile (AAC LC)
- MPEG-2 TS(H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, AAC LC)
MP4 file format
- H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile (AAC LC)
MPEG-1 (MPEG Audio Layer 2)
MPEG-2 PS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AAC LC, AC3(Dolby Digital), LPCM)
MPEG-2 TS(MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AC3(Dolby Digital), AAC LC)
MPEG-2 TS(H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, AAC LC)
AVI
- Motion JPEG (Linear PCM)
- Motion JPEG (μ-Law)
AVCHD (.m2ts / .mts)
DivX
WMV
- VC-1(WMA Standard V2)
Scrap the H.264 format and just try rendering the file using the MPEG2 BD template - Launch VSX3 Pro | Open Project | Select the Share Tab | Create Video File| Blu-ray | MPEG2 1920x1080 or 1440x1080
One other thing to keep in mind is that the PS3 uses the stupid FAT32 format and you are limited to 4 GB file size and the only way around that is to split the video or to stream it from you computer using a media server (Windows Media Player) and if you are using wireless you might have some lag.

Re: Problems when rendering video
FWIW, I have an older, non-wireless PS3 which I have connected by network cable to my computer and via HDMI to my HDTV. I regularly stream my edited video from my computer, and while Windows Media Player works fine as a server, I find that a more flexible option is the freeware 'PS3 Media Server' which was designed specifically with the PS3 in mind. It plays anything... You can Google for it. I used to use Nero Media Home and that worked fine for a while with all types of media, including AVCHD and HDV. But unaccountably, the latter two formats now play back in a very erratic way, so I have dropped it (and the money I spent on it for precisely that purpose. Nero have been unable to help...)

Re: Problems when rendering video
Hi Rob717
Thanks for the detailed reply.
I am aware of the problems with both Direct X and QuickTime, the latter reared its head some time ago with the installation of VS10, at that time QT V7 had to be reverted to V6
Tried with and without Smart Proxy
Smart Render on and off.
Successfully rendered to H.264, but playback fails in clip mode.
Rendered to Mpeg2, playback ok.
You mention that clip playback uses the default media player.
I cannot play the M2TS files using my media players which would suggest a missing codec.
But as VS is supposed to support H.264, it renders without problem, then why the clip playback problem.
Are you saying I have to purchase another codec just to make VS work correctly?
As I say I do not own a HD camera so don’t really need to fix this, nor do i have any HD camera software that i can install.
I feel as though I am hi-jacking the post when its vhalen that asked for help.

Sorry for the delay in replying.
Ignore my problems which seems to have side tracked your post.
First of all did you try rendering to Blu-ray Mpeg2?
As I said your project has a lot going on.
Looking at the titles it appears you have been to Florida, hope you had a good time.
Some of my observations.
You are using a mix of video files Avi, Mpg, M2TS and Mov I think.
In the “voice” track there appears to be M2TS clips, I can only assume you have used Split Audio?
The first music track contains MP3, these formats have been known to cause some problems, it may be best to replace with Wav files.
Can you summarise just exactly what happens when you select Share Create Video file.
Does the program stop at the same time, if yes then it may be the content in the timeline.

Re: Problems when rendering video
Thanks all for your answers... I think that now I'll finish it right!
I travelled to Florida last year and I went back last month.
I need finish this project to make a new project with my new vacation movies...
I already try render my project with MPEG2 Blu-ray format and a lot of other formats without success.
With my new notebook Core i7, when I try to render using blu-ray option, Videostudio stop (stop responding) before to start this process.
When using wmv option, the render process stops on 10% (some time on this point and another time on 15%).
If I remove k-lite mega codec pack, some clips don't play correctly even on Videostudio.
What I need to do to install Videostudio correctly? Is there a step-by-step to follow?
Things that I'll do to try another time:
- Remove all music from my project;
- Install the last version of Quicktime
Things that I do on my computer (after buy it):
- Updated Windows 7 Home Premium;
- Installed Directx 11 with all updates;
- Installed K-lite Mega Codec Pack;
- Installed Videostudio X3 Pro (download version);
- I didn't install quicktime
Thanks
Ronaldo
