The audio was associated with the .mp4 or .mts tracks, and there was a simple mp3 backing track.

JamesH try coverting that MP3 ausio to Wave...you can do this in VSX3 by SHARE/Create sound file. If it doesn't work in VSX3 use something like Audacity (it's free). MP3 audio is notorious for causing problems. Do this plus the quicktime problem SHOULD work
See if that helps
Did you run into problems installing VSX3 per chance?
"msvcr80.dll is a process associated with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 from Microsoft Corporation It is the Microsoft C Runtime Library."
You might need to also see if there is any possibility in re-installing the Runtime library...check Microsoft website for that.

Re: VideoStudio X3 Continually Crashes When Rendering
Personnaly, I create MOV-HD1080p files with my canon EOS 5DMark II.
Of course, VideoStudio needs QT to process the video and the sound.
I tried the workaround to convert my MOV files to AVI, but it takes ages and at the end, the AVI file is too heavy compare to the MOV-HD file. I need to generate proxy file to create my movies and it takes also a long time to get them.
So, I think there is no solution for me except another video software.

But (and I think you'll agree) it should not be this complicated. No program should require that you have to tinker around with dll's, reinstall other programs, downgrade this program, change file formats ... it is laughable and to be honest, I am over it.
The GUI for VSproX3 is great, and it is a simple program to edit with. Does anyone know of a different program which is like it, but is more stable?

Re: VideoStudio X3 Continually Crashes When Rendering
Corel's reply to me so far was 1) download the newest DirectX, the newest Quicktime, and the newest Video drivers, which I did and of course that had no effect. it still crashes rendering from MOV files.

Yeah... I pretty much agree it should be this complicated fiddling around with dll's etc....but it seems the norm in a windows based environment. It shows how complicated video work is too....
IF I do remember correctly when installing VS in the installation routine it installs the Visual Runtime Libraries...
Good luck sorting it out...

Re: VideoStudio X3 Continually Crashes When Rendering
I have a similar problem.
I'm not even using any complex video, just a small amount I ripped from Youtube as avi. The rest is jpg and mp3.
All forms of Rendering used to work. Then at some point as the project grew (only about 4.5minutes in total right now) it would no longer render MP4 (Share/Create video file/MPEG-4/MPEG-4 HD).
But if I create a smaller project using some of the same files and video it renders just find with MPEG-4 HD.
It seems to have a problem atfter about 310MBs of rendering.
I'm using the share/create video file/HDV for now, but the MP4 looked so much better with the credits and some other things.
I also have an iPhone and crappy QT installed. I haven't tried uninstalling it yet. It its that simple then I can work with that since I have multiple computers.
Thanks,
Konrad

Have you tried call the phone support 877-662-6735? Disregard the message about a fee for support, I have called it before and they have to take your credit card before they can charge you and I was able to ask questions without being charged as well.marcbi wrote:That is definitively a very poor supportjdplus3 wrote:Corel's reply to me so far was 1) download the newest DirectX, the newest Quicktime, and the newest Video drivers, which I did and of course that had no effect. it still crashes rendering from MOV files. To be honest, I don't know how to escalate this issue to Corel. We are all very upset about this problem and it is important Corel fixes this issue in the product.

Re: VideoStudio X3 Continually Crashes When Rendering
Hi everyone. I have found this thread extremely helpful as a real novice in video editing. 2 things:
1. Email support is available through 'My Account' on the Corel website. I make no comment on its worth as I have an unresolved ticket in at the moment. Suffice it to say there has been more help forthcoming here. I echo the comment that the software should work 'out of the box'.
2. I have just completed my first project, my son's wedding, at about 2 hrs in length. Crashes got more frequent as it progressed in length, by which time it was too late to consider the proxy option. By saving every 2 minutes, I got it finished. Replaced QT 7.6.6 with 7.6 and managed to render to a movie file (.mpg) on the HD. Couldn't get MovieFactory 7SE to create a DVD, so copied file to a DVD (dual layer needed because of file size). This now plays fine on the computer with Media Centre, but not QT.
Question: How can I create a DVD which will play on the home DVD player?
Sorry if this appears too simplistic to the gurus amongst you, but as I said, I have really struggled to get so far.

From the specs that you have posted on the site, I am not too sure how it will perform on your system.
- The processor that you have is an older processor and is not what is specified to work with, they are very similar but are still different in design.
- The type of video card is not that powerful and I am not sure what version or release date of drivers you have installed. When rendering with VSX3 Pro, most of it is done through the GPU of the video card now. With older cards or out dated drivers VSX3 Pro might not work correctly.
Microsoft® Windows® 7, Windows Vista® or Windows® XP with latest service packs installed (32-bit or 64-bit editions)
Intel® Core™ Duo 1.83 GHz, AMD Dual-Core 2.0 GHz or higher recommended
1 GB RAM (2 GB or higher recommended)
128 MB VGA VRAM or higher (256 MB or higher recommended)
3 GB of free hard drive space
Minimum display resolution: 1024 x 768
Windows-compatible sound card
Windows-compatible DVD-ROM drive for installation
Recordable DVD required for creating DVDs
Recordable Blu-ray™ drive required for creating Blu-ray™ discs
Internet connection required for online features
- Software can't simply just work out of the box, the hardware has to be up to date and compatible with the software for it function correctly.
I would recommend seeing if there is any updates for the video card, by going to the manufacturer of the laptop's web site
Update Direct X by going to the following Microsoft Web Site: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
If this above does not work, then I would recommend testing on a different system that meets all the requirements. You are allowed to have VSX3 Pro installed on two systems that you own. If you choose to test on a different system you will need to create a Smart Package
How to Create a Smart Package:
1- Launch VideoStudio Pro X3 and select advanced editor
2- Open the Project you would like to transfer to a different computer
3- Select File | Smart Package
4- Save the contents to an external drive
5- Save the contents on to the new system
6- Open the VSP file from the Smart Package Content on the new system.

Re: VideoStudio X3 Continually Crashes When Rendering
Derek,
If you're working with SD (Standard Def) video files, then your PC is sufficient. I still edit video on my old desktop (see my system info), which is much less than what you're using. However I do not attempt to edit any HD (AVCHD or HDV) video. If you're going to work with HD video, I strongly recommend upgrading your PC, especially if you want to edit AVCHD. I do have my desktop setup to maximize it's resources for video editing. I have no extra bloat software installed, no internet, no anti-virus, ect. I also have 2 internal HDD, and set my working folders to use the 2nd drive, that way one drive reads while the other writes. I also keep my drives de-fragmented using program called Diskeeper.

These are the recommended specs. Take a look at my specs. X3 works just fine with DV-AVI. I echo Ron's statement - a lot depends on what you are working with.Microsoft® Windows® 7, Windows Vista® or Windows® XP with latest service packs installed (32-bit or 64-bit editions)

Re: VideoStudio X3 Continually Crashes When Rendering
Thank you everyone for your comments. I am actually using a laptop, but it is less than 1 year old. I did try updating drivers, but the system crashed and it went back under warranty, when, of course, they reformatted the HD!.
Yes, I am using HD video, and eventually managed to complete a 6Gb DVD by saving frequently. Yes, I will look to acquiring a higher spec desktop if that is the answer.
As a final passing comment, everytime I try to introduce the transitions '3D confetti' and '3D Pizza Boxes' into the project, it crashes. Curious, I went through all the others and it didn't happen. Ended by trying the 2 delinquents again, and it crashed???
Thanks again,
Derek
