Unable to activate PSP X3

Post by tethys »

So far, no luck with Corel tech support - so I thought I would see if anyone on here had suggestions/guidance/answers...

Here is my scenario: I recently purchased the PSP X3 upgrade (web download), which I promptly installed (PSP X2 was already installed and working fine).

On launching PSP X3, I get the activation screen. If I click on Activate Now, I get a tiny, blank window with an OK button in it, and nothing happens. If I choose the option to phone Corel to get the activation key and input that manually, I am presented with a window that has boxes for Installation Code, Serial Number, Activation Code, and ID. The problem is that the Installation Code box is blank - and Corel is unable to generate an activation code without an installation code.

I phoned technical support, and was on the phone with them for over an hour as they remoted into my computer, used their cleanup tool to completely remove PSP X3, they re-downloaded from a different location, re-installed the new setup package, and launched the application for me - which landed us right back at square one. They then recorded everything using the Windows 7 problem steps recorder, I was told I would hear back from them shortly... I'm still waiting :)

I am running Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit. Tech support has already had me try the usual: re-install and run with UAC turned off, firewall turned off, windows defender turned off, logged in as admin, run as admin, verified that the Protexis licensing service is running, reboot, etc. etc.

Help?

When you get to the hang up point open Task Manager (Ctrl Shift Esc) and see if there are any other Corel programs running in the background on the processes tabs. If "MediaCataloger" is running shut that program down and see if you can get it running for you.

No other Corel programs are running... I *did*, however, hear back from tech support today - they are having me download a CD image and install from there (apparently, the CD-based images don't require activation). At the rate the download is progressing, I might have the bits downloaded by the end of the week :o

Same problem here and still no luck with Corel support.
There's another thread on this http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 6&p=205361, thought you might want to check it.
