When I start Play in Video Studio 8 I get the message "Failed to use DirectShow video engine.", followed by "The audio stream cannot be played; there is no audio hardware available or this does not respond" (in dutch). How can I solve this problem? Do I need a special device driver?
I just installed Ulead Video Studio on this Windows 7 computer. Other programs have no problem playing video and audio.

Re: DirectShow misses audio device
Welcome to the forums,
Sadly if you get VS8 to work on a Win7 machine consider yourself extremely lucky!! VS8 was developed way back when Win98 was still the main OS and WinXP was just coming around. I think you need to consider upgrading your video editing application since you've upgraded your operating system.
VS8 was not written for multi-core processors, or many of the other things that have changed. If you have the ability to set compatibility mode for your OS, try setting VS8 to run as WinXP.

Re: DirectShow misses audio device
Indeed, one of the claims Corel made when it changed the various capture plug-ins with Video Studio 11 was that DirectShow no longer worked with Vista. And since Windows 7 came after Vista, I would think the message you get about DirectShow not working simply proves that point...

Is this the same for Studio Plus 11 with Windows 8?

Re: DirectShow misses audio device
Since Windows 8 came after Vista and windows 7 then it almost certainly is the case.
