Smart Proxy

Post by david_lexicon »

I have enabled Smart Proxy and added files to be inserted in the Manager and Queue, but then I find nothing - no Proxy files.
The files in question are HD files.

Am I doing something wrong? :(

Hi David

What size are your video files.
Right click one of your video files and select properties, what is the frame size.?

They have to be larger than the size shown in the third image.
Create proxy when video size is above: 720 x 576.

Trevor -- I think the above rather suggests they were not standard definition format size. In other words, they were above 720 x 576.

David: However, it still begs the question exactly what size and HD format they were. I personally would also love to know why the OP was wanting to use SmartProxy. Your MoBo is capable of taking both Quad Core and Core 2Duo CPUs though you don't tell us what you have. But both are capable of editing, and playing back, AVCHD in its native format. But you also don't tell us what kind of HD video you are using -- i.e. AVCHD (which I am assuming) or HDV (which certainly never requires any SmartProxy files, even on older computers...

So please give us a bit more information to work on...

The HD files format are AVI at 1920x1080 and are almost 1Gb each file.

While you didn't answer my question about why you are bothering with SmartProxy, there has been another post in the past day from someone else who was having trouble getting SmartProxy to work. He found that either loading all the update patches, or updating DirectX to the very latest version appears to have corrected the problem. His full post can be found at http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 02#p201302

The topic in question refers to VS X2 and not VS X3.

I had to uninstall VS and install it again because I though that there were some corrupted files. After installing and doing updates, the problem now has worsened. When I try to import the same HD files I am having the following errors (settings of Smart Proxy the same).

The error is kinda like this one? However I got that error while trying to insert the wrong type format file. I intentionally selected insert image or photo, and then tried to insert a video file. Just need to clarify that you may not have inadvertently done the same?

My files are AVI in HD. VS used to recognize these files but all in a sudden VS is not recognizing them. :?:

Hi David

If you were able to open the video files earlier then something must have changed on your pc.

You say you re-installed X2
Did you then apply all X2 patches?
Have you updated Direct X? There is no harm in doing this again.

If it were possible you could send a video file so I can try and open.
It would have to be small.
Use your camera to record, just a few seconds, the shorter the better.
If you can get it under 50 Mg, you can load it to Windows Live SkyDrive.
