Hi To All,
I hope you are all having a great day. I am new to video editing and am in need of a little assistance.
I am trying to import AVI video files from my hard drive to edit with Video Editor Pro x3. The problem that I am having is that when I attempt to locate the files with Video Editor x3 it dose not seem to support the AVI files on my hard drive. In the browse window I can see the file folder but when I open it I can't find the enclosed avi files. don't see the .AVI files in the file browse drop down menu. Can any one tell me what I am doing wrong? I would appreciate any assistance at all.
Thank you,
Tony S

Re: Video Editor Pro x3 AVI file Import Problem
Unfortunately, .avi is just a wrapper extension. There are literally over 800 different kinds of video formats, from all sorts of different sources and equipment, which call themselves .avi. These range from true or raw .avi which is huge (64 GB per hour of video); through DV/AVI (13 GB) and down to highly compressed mpeg-4 formats such as DivX and XVid.
So where did your video come from? Did the equipment involved come with any software? And if so, have you installed it?
I ask because it sounds to me you have some sort of strange .avi format (e.g. from a helment cam?) which has a very propriety set of properties and which needs a special codec to be able interpret it. If that codec is not installed, that may be why Video Studio cannot "see" it. It only comes with a small number of very standard codecs.

Hi Tony
How are you trying to insert the Avi's to Video Studio?
Do not use File – Open Project
Instead right click the timeline and select Insert Video
Or
File - Insert Media File to Timeline –Insert Video
