I'm converting from MSP8 on my old Dell Precision 380 to a new Dell XPS with VSPX3, Windows 7 Ultimate. I'm running service Pack 1 13.6.2.21. I've only been capturing SD so far on the Dell XPS & VSPX3 which works perfectly. When I tried to capture HDV I get the attached error message. Note: that the preview screen will not show the video from the Camcorder when in play/edit mode. It does display if it is in the camera mode and I can capture the live camera action.
I can capture the same HDV using MSP8 or VSPX3 on my old Dell Precision 380 which is running XP 64 bit. I've DL'd the latest drivers/DrirectX for the Dell XPS.
Corel Support has made some feeble attemps with the usual basic suggestions. They have thrown in the towel and updated the ticket with a note that this was too complex to be addressed by their email support.
I've scanned this forum but can't find a similar thread. mM next step is doing a hand comparsion of the DLL's of the drivers on both machines. However, i can't get to it until the W/E and I'm a little apprehensive about copying XP 64 bit DLL's to Windows 7 64 bit in the event it causes collateral damage on the new Dell. Anyone out there has got any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums!
I am sorry that I can't help on your central problem as I have no trouble capturing from my own Canon HV20 HDV camcorder. But I don't have 64 bit Win 7 installed, only 32 bit.
However, as a work around, do a Google search for a small freeware program called HDVSplit which captures HDV via Firewire and splits it by scene. That way you at least get your HDV captured and can then open it in VS for editing.
