Media Type
Hi.. I just started using VSX3 with many new features. However, as am used to "Batch Convert" a particular media file type to MPEG format such as .MTS to MPEG with HD size.. it just does not provide me more than just two options as in the picture..
Where in the previous UVS11 it was much more than that as in the picture..
So.. any idea?

Hi
Not sure I can help out here, I was aware that Corel seems to have changed the software a little towards shall we say a wizard approach, taking away the options to set your own parameters.
But I had assumed the option to select Mpeg would still be there.
If you look at the project properties, these also are limited in the same way, giving only the DVD options.
Other users of X3 may have further comments.
I have looked at X2 and the program provides much the same as VS 11, allowing you to set customised properties.
Using X3 if you chose Save Type As----- Mpeg Transport Stream option, would give HD sizes. The resultant file being mpeg.

Re: Media Type
Can't remember the last time I made a vcd (mpeg1) or svcd, as these are so outdated now, I suspect Corel decided to leave them out for that reason.
If you use HD input files, 1920 x 1080 you certainly don't want to downsize to 352 x 288

That's right buddy.. however if I need to just convert MTS format to MPEG-2 for example with 1440x1080 @ 30fps, with VSX3 I can't!!skier-hughes wrote:Can't remember the last time I made a vcd (mpeg1) or svcd, as these are so outdated now, I suspect Corel decided to leave them out for that reason.

Re: Media Type
Hi
It’s the mpeg option that seems to be missing.
In earlier versions you could choose multiple frame sizes.
I know for instance that some users prefer to create Mpeg to upload to YouTube.
But X3 seems to have reverted to a wizard approach, taking the choice away from the user.
If you want a DVD then that’s fine, but you cannot create custom videos using X3.
X2 has much more scope.
For X2
Try capturing and you have to use a template, but there is some facility to set your own capture properties from advanced, you have some scope………..
For X3
Again there is no choice for mpeg.
If I wished to capture to DVD Mpeg 2 using 6000kbps Constant bit rate, no option I have to use 8000kbps Variable, one of the templates.
As I say its becoming a ‘wizard world’ with little choice and no user defined options.
Maybe there is ways if I dig deep enough, but I doubt it……………….

Did you try:-
1 / Share Create Video File – Same as First Video--if the first video is MTS, should re-code to mpeg2
2 / Share Create Video File - Custom – Mpeg TS Stream - options
3 / Using the Make Movie Templates Manager to create your own template.
Maybe Use the add function to copy the video files properties.

Hi again
Ok I have run a few tests and cannot create a Mpeg 2 file with1440x1080 using the standard approach, all end up as MTS.
Standard DVD sizes yes………………….
But try the Mpeg Optimiser option, seems to create Mpegs using the original video file sizes

To CYBERMATE.
Misery loves company. I have the exact same problem as you and none of the ideas proposed in this thread or others have worked. I have tried them all and am pulling my hair out on this one. I'm locked into "stupid, cheap, weak, outdated DVD parameter options" at both the project properties stage and at all versions of rendering attempts for custom mpeg. I even use "smart render" using properties "same as first clip" (which is 1280x720, mpeg2, 12mbps) and it gives me a happy green bar (no need to rework) with DVD specs (720x480, 8mbps).
Please let me know if you get it figured out. There must be others out there,
