DVD MF 7 Freezes and other problems

Post by rwalker66 »

I upgraded to DVD MF 7 and had no problems for about a month. But now when I get to the final step and hit "burn" the program freezes at 99% done for "Converting the video of the title". Not 99% total progress, 99% for that converting step. I thought it might be a problem with the video, but videos I have already used to successfully burn DVDs are also having the same problem and freezing at exactly 99%. I get a windows error box pop up saying the program has stopped working and windows is looking for a solution, then a windows error box saying the program has closed. Any idea what could cause this?

I have Windows Vista. The DVD MF 7 is a downloaded upgrade from DVD MF 6 Plus, which itself is an upgrade from DVD MF 4. Maybe I have too many versions on my PC. I can't delete 4 or 6 or else 7 won't work.

I have another issue of when I transfer video to the computer with DVD MF 7 or 6 I get an error message saying "the file is corrupt. delete?" just 10 seconds into the video capture. I never had this problem before either. I end up having to use VirtualDub to capture the video.

I can't say anything sensible about your second problem, I am afraid. However, your first sounds as though the program thinks it has to convert the video being used in the project. You say you are trying to burn a DVD, and of course for that you have to insert either DVD-compatible mpeg-2 or else the program will try to convert it to that. You don't say what you are trying to insert into MF 7 (and I am assuming you have MF 7 Pro not the SE version). It will accept a Video Studio 12 and earlier project file, or video itself. What format are you using? I see you are trying existing video, so what format is that?

And have you checked the second icon in the bottom left of screen to ensure the "Do not convert compliant mpeg files" is ticked? If you have inserted compliant mpeg-2 files and are trying to make a standard def DVD, with that box ticked you should not even receive a message telling you that it is trying to convert the "title" i.e. main video, let alone have that conversion fail.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I capture the video in AVI format, so yes, I need it to convert because it has to convert the video from AVI to MPEG-2.

It is actually old 8mm video and I use my DV camcorder to change the video from AV to DV and then transfer it to my computer via firewire. I have done this many times with no problems. For some reason the program seems to be going nuts on me lately. It is DVD MF 7 Pro btw. Maybe I should just uninstall it and try to reinstall it again? Not sure why all these problems are suddenly popping up. The only "video related" thing I have added to my PC lately was the latest version of the VLC player. I uninstalled that and the problems remained.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
