VSX3 Problem with overlay when creating Video Files

Post by RichardB »

Started with a project (Wedding Video in HD) in VSX2 and it was extremely slow. VSX3 solved all the problems untill I got to Create DVD. The new DVD factory 2010 was very confusing and I abandoned using it (Why did Corel change something that worked!!!). I decided to create video files of the threee projects (Intro, Ceremony, Reception) and then create the disk in VS X2. In creating the AVCHD files I encountered a problem in that all the overlays, be it video or BMP, got squashed vertically by about 25% and the original video is now visible above and below the overlay clip. There is no problem when you look at it in the project preview AND if you create a DVD directly from the project it is 100% correct. BUT if you create a video file it goes wrong. I tested with four file types ( AVCHD, MPG, DVD,HDV) and it did the same in all cases.

I am using a Sony DH DVD camera and imported the files via the Sony PMB utility. The clips I then import are file type *.M2ts

I just finished a project in X3 that used a lot of overlay tracks and I didn't run into this problem.

What are the clip properties?

What did you set the clips in the overlay track to? (i.e. Fit to Screen, Keep Aspect Ratio, etc.)

What are the project properties?

What are the output properties?

Hi, I solved the problem with the overlays by restarting the project from scratch in VSX3 with the fixpack now installed. ( tried to avoid restaring because I spent so many hours editing already) I initially started the project in VSX2 but because of the extremely slow performance with HD video I then carried on in VSX3 and I think something went wrong in the translation. This was also done before any patch or the fixpack was available. Applying the fixpack though did not fix the problem either. If I look at the current file properties and the project settings they are exactly the same so I can not explain what the problem was.
I think I will just write this off to the joy of working with video editing
