Re installing Ulead VS11Plus
I remember I had lots of problems getting the Auto Music to load properly when installing this software the last few times. Im talking about the music that you can ad to a clip and stretch it as far as the clip goes. Maybe it's called something else.

Go to smartsound.com then click on the Support button. Choose Quicktrack updates for Corel...

Re: Re installing Ulead VS11Plus
I have now installed 11 which was an update from 8 and have found that I dont seem to have any smarttracks in my library. I guess all the smarttracks I had were in the original version 8 that I initially purchased. So can I extract the smarttracks from the VS8 disc or do I need to install8 as well? Id rather only have one of the versions on my computer so after installing VS8 and getting it all working can I then uninstall 8 without deleting the smarttracks.
On the otherhand I could restore some files from my backup where it was all roking if I knew where they were and what to do?

Re: Re installing Ulead VS11Plus
VS 11 should have installed smartsound quicktracks itself. I too have both VS8 and 11. On my desktop machine, I have both installed, however must confess that also included are 9 and 10, so VS11 may have detected that I already had SS installed. You haven't completed your system information in your profile, please do so. That way you will not be asked again and again what they are, and I'm questioning if you may be running Win7, which could be throwing VS11 a curve while your installing it.
When you purchased your upgrade to VS11, did you purchase the ESD (download) or boxed? Look for a file called uvs11_plus_contentpack_(e).exe. Note that this is provided you have the Plus version and not the vanilla (plain) version. This file is what installs the SmartSound quicktracks. You should be able to reinstall VS8, then uninstall it without having it take the SmartSound files with it. SmartSound is installed in it's own directory, generally on the root drive (C:).
SmartSound's website provides instructions for backing up your files and database, which I think you to restore them, just copy them back to the installed locations. You would need to then go into the Auto Music section of VS, click on the SmartSound Quicktracks icon. Then on the Folders tab, at the bottom, click on the Add Folder button and navigate to the folder(s) where you have them installed.
Now if you have properly backed them up prior to uninstalling VS, then all you need to do is what I described in the previous paragraph, and navigate to the folder(s) where you have them backed up. No real need to copy them back, unless you backed them up to a disk, or external HDD, that will not be available all the times you're working with VS..
There's also a function found on the Migration tab, called Search Hard Drives, and it will search all internal HDDs for Smartsound files. You can also set the folder you want to use for your SmartSound files..

Re: Re installing Ulead VS11Plus
So I am back to where I remember I was a year or so ago. That is I installed VS8 and all works fine. Then installed VS11Plus and updated quicktracks from the Smartsound site. The result is that VS8 works but when I click on AutoMusic the package crashes.
Running XP Pro 32bit V2002 SP3 QuickTime 6 which came with VS8
Any Ideas welcome but this happens every single time

Hi
Quick Time, either install the version that came with VS11 or go to the web site for the latest version.
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
……………………………………..
You don’t say but I assume you have re-installed both VS 8 and VS 11.
Did you do a clean install?

If I were having problems with Smart Sound I would also uninstall/reinstall that as well.

Re: Re installing Ulead VS11Plus
Sorry just to be clear are you suggesting that the QuickTime6 is the problem and I should update to the latest version ?

Re: Re installing Ulead VS11Plus
Hi
I am saying that Corel recommend installing the QuickTime that came with the product or the latest version.
Although there have been issues with crashes for some after installing the latest versions. But you’re having crash problem anyway.
It’s a catch 22,
I’m not saying that changing the version of QuickTime will defiantly cure your problem, its just an option to try.
As far as I know VS 8 and VS 11 use the same Smart Sound files.
So you would not necessary need to install VS8 to get the Smart Sound working for VS11.
I am saying that doing a Clean Install is preferable to doing a simple Repair or simple Install.

Re: Re installing Ulead VS11Plus
Yes thanks, just that every time I try something and then hit a brick wall I start all over again by restoring back to the start and performing a clean install each time. Its a very time consuming exercise each time.
Thanks for your advice though, do appreciate it!
