MF6 plus problems with MOV files

i have MF6 plus, Windows Vista home basic,
after having tried to install a software for ADSTech DVD Xpress DX2 for capturing from a camcorder, which eventually didn't work because of the drivers incompatibility with Vista - I gave up,
my MF started to not like MOV files from my Kodak digicamera. It used to work OK, but now MF imports files but in preview plays only few seconds and jumps to the beginning and stops. When I join them, the sound is a horrible buzz.At the same time there was an update for Quicktime and Itunes. And by the way, Windows movie maker stopped importing same files, although it used to work alright....

I tried to update coecs - vista codec packs. Uninstalled and reinstalled them several times, uninstalled and reinstalled the MF, tried regystry cleaner... It's been for more than a month and I did a lot of manipulations with the PC, so I lost the track and am thinking about reinstalling Vista itself, but still hope there is a simpler solution -
it used to work ALRIGHT ever since i bought this computer 2 years ago.

I tried to import a MOV file from another source and it worked fine....
I don't get it, please advise - where should start from? Codecs? Codecs settings? other settings? other software interfering? i am at a lost....

most likely the ads interfering, the order in which apps are installed can be critical for things like video, so if reinstalling MF and then the camera's codec from the installation disc didn't work, reinstalling vista may be your best bet.
